Aztec Stadium starting to take shape

Usually a Satellite campus is not literally in the same area as the main, let alone connected by a dedicated trolley line a few miles away. But sure whatever you guys want to think or believe is fine by me. If you don't know the definition of a satellite campus that's ok.

WOW...Montezuma Mesa & Mission Valley are now “...the same area?”

How’d y’all pull that off???

It will be "on campus" since SDSU will own the entire 166 acres that Qualcomm Stadium once encompassed and most of the area will be an adjunct to the existing campus.

As to naming rights, to my knowledge that hasn't been put out to bid yet but some SD or RIverside county Indian tribe could get the nod as a means of publicizing its casino. Then a campus student or faculty group will hold a rally claiming the name is racist, paternalistic or whatever.

Either that or if AztecSU is correct and SDCCU wins the bidding war instead, somebody on campus will claim the bidding process was slanted against Indian tribes.

The only things certain in life are death, taxes and protests at SDSU.

Ummm...NO.  If it’s “...adjunct to the existing campus,” “it will (NOT) be ‘on campus.’” By definition something that is “adjunct” is SUPPLEMENTARY, rather than than an essential part of the “campus.”

So by your logic, since “...SDSU will own the entire 166 acres that Qualcomm Stadium once encompassed,” it’s not a satellite campus.  So according to you, the former SDSU NoCounty Satellite Campus, which is now CSU-San Marcos, was never actually a satellite after all.  WOW...that’s news to me.

It’s going to be so good to get back to normal and beat you pussies like a Sunday Morning hard-on!

You have an interesting definition of "normal."

CSU leads the series by 11-wins (59–48–5).  Pls tell us more about what is "normal" for the Border War.

This one goes out to @Wyoguns.  "¿Can you put your hands in your head?"

The Mission Valley Campus IS a "satellite" campus.

By that logic SJSU has an on-campus stadium.

And UNLV’s Sam Boyd was on campus too. Just a small stroll from science building.

This is 26,604 fans?  #FresnopullingaMiami

You can walk to south campus from the main SJSU campus. It’s just down the street. Similar to New Mexico, which correct me if I’m wrong, has three adjacent campuses (main campus, sports campus, and medical campus).

Hughes Stadium was at the base of the foothills in Fort Collins and a ways from the main CSU campus. Sam Boyd was pretty far from UNLV. It was in another town. Lol.

At least SDSU has the trolley running between the campuses. Hopefully the new stadium will draw more students to the game.

...and Hughes was right next-door to the CSU Equine Center, another auxiliary campus, yet it is clearly not part of the main campus.  Just like the new SDSU stadium is.

Hughes, our recently torn down OFF-CAMPUS Stadium is about the same distance from our main campus, as SDSU's new campus is from the Main Campus on Montezuma Mesa.

BTW...acquiring all the new land from the former Jack Murphy Stadium is a game changer for the university.  Still not part of the main campus, but a HUGE get for CSU-Diego.

The "walk" from the NuM main campus to the sports campus is 28 minutes.  You really cannot walk there.  It is too far.

I did not know they tore down the old stadium. I guess there was no way to repurpose it?

I’m looking forward to seeing the new CSU stadium this season.  I’ll be there for SJSU @ CSU.

If you can not walk 28 minutes than it’s time to hit the gym.  I’d hope NM college students are healthier than that.

It's a 7 minute trolley ride to the other half of campus or about a 3 mile walk...but the area in between is filled with cheap condos mostly so I have a feeling the gap will start feeling like an unofficial campus as students start to take over the area in the future. New campus is top left, original is bottom right.

They did recycle the concrete from the "old" stadium to be used in the "new" stadium. At least that's my understanding.

The "old" stadium was beyond simple upkeep, having been neglected by the city for years. Part of the sale of the land, the stadium was to be SDSU's sole responsibility for maintenance and upkeep. It was determined that the costs just to have it ready for football last season would have been beyond prohibitive so the decision was made to move the remaining home games to the facility in Carson until "Aztec Stadium" was available. The plan was always to raze SDCCU, the move to Carson simply accelerated that effort and allowed the concrete to be utilized.

SMOKE 'EM IF YOU'VE GOT 'EM!
