Last I heard, you guys had lost your three stud receivers and you won't be sneaking up on anybody this year.

Two stud receivers. No one is saying that those aren't holes to fill, but I would be more concerned if the QB, TE and OL with a legit draft pick were also holes to fill. There is a lot of talent behind the WR's who left, even if those guys were also special players.

No one is sneaking up on anyone in the conference this year, but SJSU will be one of the better teams in conference barring some disastrous injuries. I think it's hard to argue otherwise.

Planning is an exercise of power, and in a modern state much real power is suffused with boredom. The agents of planning are usually boring; the planning process is boring; the implementation of plans is always boring. In a democracy boredom works for bureaucracies and corporations as smell works for skunk. It keeps danger away. Power does not have to be exercised behind the scenes. It can be open. The audience is asleep. The modern world is forged amidst our inattention.

Correct me if I'm wrong but you've lost not only Tre Walker and Bailey Gaithers but Derrick Deese. And what about Tyler Nevens?

Deese and Nevens are back. I expect the Offense to go to them a lot early in the season as Starkel gets used to his new receivers.

With the freebie Covid year, I think they are looking at teams that return almost all their starters. Every season is a new season but I think that’s what they are looking at as a starting point. If you were pretty good and have most that whole team coming back, you are likely to be pretty good again.

This is the problem though, determining who was pretty good. Everyone played uneven shortened schedules and matched up against teams when either they were missing key personnel or the other team was.

The Spartans return nearly everyone.  They are loaded. Replacing Gaithers and Walker will be the only serious challenge. Returning a complete and experienced O line will help the offense, but returning a complete and experienced defense that often dominated the MWC last season is what will make the Spartans tough to beat again this year.

The schedule works out for the Spartans as they catch the Aztecs and Bulldogs at home this year. Will have to go to Reno and Honolulu.

There won’t be a phantom fumble this season.

Maybe the Wolfpack free safety won’t over run the play on purpose after seeing a Wolfpack linebacker get run over.

Maybe. What does that have to do with a blown call?

I think he's saying the phantom fumble may have been a bigger issue in the outcome of the game if the pack defense could have stopped Nevens in the second half.

Since when has any Fresno game in San Jose been a pro Spartan crowd.  It’s easy driving distance...   now that you all are good it’s worth the drive.

DraftKings Sportsbook released their 2021 CFB over/unders today. Here's the MW outlook:

Boise State - 9
Wyoming - 8.5
San Jose State - 7.5
Nevada - 7.5
San Diego State - 6.5
Air Force - 6.5
Fresno State - 6
Hawaii - 6
Colorado State - 4.5
Utah State - 3
New Mexico - 2
UNLV - 1.5

So what’s the “easy money” play here?

I see one that sticks out immediately.

Well, hopefully we wont have Boise dodging teams using Covid as an excuse.

I heard, after a unanimous vote, the Bronco players opted out of pushups during spring training.

But if San Jose does pushups , does that give San Jose an edge?

Maybe the refs won’t give the Spartans the ball when the runner was clearly down by contact before the fumble happened.
