The most boring thing about this MWC message board is these BS rumors of schools leaving.  I think they are started by another conference just to keep the MWC down and then you all react to the BS.  Nobody is going anywhere anytime soon.

Partly it's all part of the MWC DNA........MWC was born of a break away from the WAC16.........then MWC added from remnants of the WAC when TCU, Utah & BYU bailed out.........ever since then the lure of some bigger $$ conference alignment has been at the forefront of every MWC school.........be they schools that could get poached to to those left behind.

Face it- reality as it exists: there are some current MWC schools that could be targets for higher $$ conferences and there's MWC schools who best hope to hell that the MWC loses no more than 2 and holds right there.

Such is live in the G5 where the lure of $$ is always tempting

For +++++s sake man, UNR gets not much more fan support than the Big Sky days..........the stadium is a glorified metal bleacher set up with a few "boxes"..........Lawlor is a middling sized arena that hasn't been modified (other than scoreboards) since it opened in 1984............it's not like UNR dominates the market there & if it does, so what it's a middling western TV market

SD & LV bring large markets.........reasons for fans to travel............way nicer stadiums than the UNR metal erector set.............and major potential - There is nothing in Reno that can offer up a conference a decent venue to hold any event other than a UNR home game

I didn’t say nevada was anything but along for the ride. I get why Vegas in the mix. I get that it’s a great destination to party. I get the Raiders stadium is there. Not once did I brag about nevada. I’m perfectly fine with where nevada is headed athletically.

What I said is that I’ve been to game days at all of those programs you crap on and have stayed in those cities/towns. Those places love their universities. And for the life of me,  why do Vegas fans act like such douche bags? You people start to believe your own BS? I’ve been arguing “potential” with Vegas fans since I moderated the nevada board in the late-90s and Robert was posting kid porn during his meltdowns.

They aren’t going to hold UNLV back from greatness so we are stuck on a sinking ship with shithole unr.  Get real.  UNLV won’t even ask for permission before bouncing.  We will still throw unr a bone and play you once a year for your Super Bowl so don’t worry.

Aren't you a sad angry little man....and if Nevada Southern is our Super Bowl I am very happy to be the Champs http://whatcoloristhefremontcannon.com/

Good luck in whatever conference Nevada Southern ends up in, if we don't get to play you every year the only reason I will be sad is we lose a guaranteed win on our schedule....

Not like a UNR FB or even BB ticket is hard to get in Reno - Yeah UNLV has sucked it up for years but if UNLV gets it going BB will outdraw UNR in most seasons & FB wouldn't be far behind because UNR is stuck at 25-30K

Point is it's best for both UNR & UNLv to stay tied at the hip for any conference movement - Both have finally leveled the conference affiliation after decades of UNR following behind UNLV.............let's keep both on the same plane & not let the separation return again

Despite all your talk of market support & fandom,.........UNLV went D-1 in 1978.........UNR in 1994, when ironically UNR filled the gap in the Big West left by UNLV's departure .........then UNR filled in the WAC when UNLV left ................now both are together & should remains so

Use some common sense. Why would a frustrated Aresco say they may need to expand to 14?  They only need one team according to the NCAA so why say he needs three more if they can't get the one team? Because Boise State said not without their other sports. He has said over and over that the conference will only add teams that add value to the league. BYU and Boise State are those teams that add value aside from the academies. SDSU is the best all-around choice after BYU.

All of the signs are there without inside info. The Harsin emails, Aresco interviews, JDW saying SDSU to the Big West wasn't gonna happen but saying they were always looking at the future, Dickey saying once he was settles he was gonna look at the AAC, stadium expansion, Hair saying extraction was a bigger possibility than expansion.

You guys just don't wanna believe this conference may look different next year for, well....  Let's be nice. Reasons.

So you're done with your  latest, attention whoring, stunt?

Nevada was “D1” for 50+ years before Vegas. It dropped football in 1948 for the same reason programs are dropping it today — Common sense has gone out the window.

Nevada went D1 the same time Vegas did the second time around. Nevada went to the D1AA big sky which was a better football fit ... and conference some years than the PCAA because it aligned better with Boise and Montana than fing Fullerton/Pacific who sucked as bad then as they do now.

So BSU and SUDS go to the AAC along with their Oly’s…..YBU goes too…..still travel will at least double and any increase in football tv contract will be eaten up by the non revenue producers.  BSU just dropped a baseball program that they eliminated wrestling for.  Not seeing the benefit. But it keeps the board busy in the off-season…..either way good luck!

It SUCKS to be a CSU Ram!

And that whole article was and is classic political double talk.  That and the fact the Don is still trying to sell the P6 bullshit is all that anyone should get out of it.  The real news is the extension of their waiver because of COVID.

In the beginning the Universe was created.
This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

You may want to recheck your facts

To be fair, UNR alums come across as a lot more educated and intelligent than UNLV fans.

A lot of UNLV alums seem to have earned fluff degrees, like Bachelor of Criminal Justice.

Plus, I was shocked at how much nicer UNR's campus is.

But...in the end, UNLV is in Las Vegas.  Reno is mostly a bowling town anymore.  I enjoyed the Presidential Walk at Scheels in Sparks.

Will it be BYU or UNLV. A lot of smoke surrounding UNLV. If it’s BYU, does that mean Gonzaga is in play too?

I never said four schools would leave. I asked what would the MWC do if four schools left. We know the AAC has talked about 14. We know Aresco wasn't thrilled when he invited BSU late last year and BSU said no to a football only invite. Army isn't gonna be an AAC member so of the AAC is gonna expand it's gonna be with the MWC teams unless BYU for whatever reason goes. I'm just saying of three MWC teams go, it's possible Hawaii or AF bails.

And yes. It's such a secret that only I know. I guess those emails the actual news and sports reporters found of Harsin, the AAC, and Boise State are all fake.

You are one of the few who doesn't believe anything about expansion and that's fine. But people have friends and people have jobs in the know... This shit isn't discussed by two people in a sound proof room and kept on the down low. If you don't believe anything I say why even bother commenting? Just wait til I'm proven wrong so you can say "I told you so."

They need to keep things confidential and quiet.

Heard from a good source that bsu and UNLV have invited Alabama, Texas, Clemson, Oregon, USC, Washington, and Ohio State to start a new conference...also heard they’re all leaving the NCAA and starting their own association. Should be amazing...

No, there’s another more obvious and pressing reason for mike aresco to be concerned and it has nothing to do with the MW.  Boise has no pull in this at all.  Welcome back!

Why would BYU join the AAC?

Makes no sense.  Loyalty to the WCC.
