NDSU Football Head Coach Matt Entz Wants To Join The Mountain West?

I think they act like Boise fans 15 years ago. Talk of dominating this place, talk of continued ascendance, etc. Boise got here and even with the league being diminished, they haven't had a huge streak of uninterrupted conference titles. They're 5-4 against BYU over that timeframe as well, and all I used to hear was Boise would run BYU out of the building.

But that's just me. I don't think it's a good fit, especially for football only.

Boise has not been nearly as good as they were.  Just take a look at the numbers they used to send to the NFL compared to the last 6 or whatever years.  It's not the competition.

South Dakota State is the #1 seed in the FCS Playoffs. 2571.png&h=40&w=40 Go Jacks!

The Missouri Valley Football Conference has 5 teams in the 16 team playoff.

South Dakota State deserves an invite to the MWC. They’re a better brand than NDSU and their governor is a babe.

well yea.  A lot of teams dropped out and did not play this year due to playing in the winter/spring.  The pickings were slim.  About 1/3 dropped out.

Just because UNLV is in LV doesn't mean it delivers the LV market. The vast majority of that market is pretty indifferent to UNLV Athletics.

It leads to a serious chicken-or-the-egg argument- do winning programs evolve from solid fan support, or does the support come after a program succeeds? I think pure grassroots winners are mostly outliers. Winning and competitive programs have a solid base of fan support, win or lose. That fan support obviously grows with a winning tradition, but it is the rare program that establishes that tradition in a relative support vacuum.

What about SDSU basketball?

Ucla Basketball probably has more viewers in the San Diego market than SDSU on any given week.

You might be right about South Dakota State's basketball program in San Diego, but the Aztecs bring more people to the stands than the Bruins.

Bruins: 6,700
Aztecs: 11,668

It's going to be interesting to see how much more fan support the Bruins get after the FF run.

I am not sure why BYU guys hang around ..But all are welcome here..

There's a lot of history, and we do still play both football and basketball games against MW teams pretty much every year.

I miss the NDSU guys..They kept the conversation going at least.

I was hoping for a big push to add South Dakota State on the thread.  Of course, it seems like that little ass whupping is what shut up the NDSU (we're f*&%ing perfect) crowd.
