San Francisco and North Dakota State is solid scheduling for the expected level of this roster.

18-20 wins would be a solid first season for CKK.

If he stays at UNLV his entire career he will finish as the greatest college coach that ever lived with the best win percentage and multiple national championships.  Let’s hope he is smart enough to build his own thing where people love him.

Dearth of UNLV players as NBA Summer League returns to Las Vegas

The NBA Summer League is returning to Las Vegas this week, and the event seems to be picking up where it left off after the 2020 session was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. All 30 teams will participate, there will be fans in the stands, and most of the top selections from the recent draft will make their pro debuts.

One aspect of Summer League that feels different, however, is the absence of UNLV alums.

UNLV has generally produced more than its share of NBA-caliber prospects, especially for a mid-major program, but in recent years the pipeline has apparently slowed to a dribble. A cursory scan of the available rosters as of Friday revealed just one former player on a Summer League roster, as center Brandon McCoy was able to latch on with the Miami Heat.

UNLV basketball getting back to work under Kruger

The most important thing Kruger learned during summer was that despite the overnight roster rebuild, UNLV may have enough talent and skill diversity to play the way Kruger wants to play — starting now.

Previous coach T.J. Otzelberger had two years to build the roster and couldn’t construct it in a way that allowed him to play his preferred style. He found himself having to tailor his gameplans to suit the skills of his players, not the other way around. That approach resulted in obvious on-court dissonance and a 29-31 record over two seasons.

Sounds like Rice. It's very difficult to impose a fast pace. Need major horses and need a lot of them. Seems a lot of new coaches believe they can just implement this style because they want to. Fingers crossed.

We will have one of the most athletic teams in the conference next year.  We have players that can disrupt things on the defensive end of the floor.  Last year, the philosophy was hoping the opponent missed.

Start the UNLV All Athlete Team:

Royce Hamm Jr

Victor Iwuakor

Donovan Williams

Bryce Hamilton

Michael Nuga

Backups

David Muoka/James Hampshire

Reece Brown

Josh Baker

Justin Webster

Jordan McCabe/Keshon Gilbert

We got the talent to Run!  We might have to because I don't know if any of these guys can shoot.  We might need to dunk to score.

Nuga, Webster, and Baker are all good shooters.

They all are until they get to UNLV.

Hope you are right

David Jenkins Jr panned out as a shooter, but he didn't provide anything else.

Also, all three of them will not have to carry as much of a load offensively, and they should get better looks overall.

Without a doubt. It's not a question on if UNLV will get another NC, it's how many.  I think there is a clear case of KK being the best ever right now without coaching a game. The hype is that real.

I think you were saying the football team will be in the T25 this season after going 0-6 last year. Clearly last year was just a fluke.  With your 30th AD in the last year running out of town(she was garbage anyways) and UNLV just built their own 100 Billion dollar stadium that they let the Raiders play in too, I would say things are very bright in Vegas.

The Sleeping Giant has woke. I feel bad for whichever school has to play this monster in 2021.
