 We all have free will.

LIES! sayeth the Calvinist.

Planning is an exercise of power, and in a modern state much real power is suffused with boredom. The agents of planning are usually boring; the planning process is boring; the implementation of plans is always boring. In a democracy boredom works for bureaucracies and corporations as smell works for skunk. It keeps danger away. Power does not have to be exercised behind the scenes. It can be open. The audience is asleep. The modern world is forged amidst our inattention.

Sorry I failed to recognize your theoretic accolades

Glad you found the light when needed.................my point is more about religion being a construct of the human mind & how people stay in their lanes more often than not

If someone has some verifiable evidence to show there is some all being then I'm all ears...........and which one of the myriad religions does the all being want us to follow, cause there's a lot of cars on the religion train & if only one works

You're using south park to shit on belief in god? You don't actually watch that show, do you? Cuz if you did, you wouldn't have done that.

God particle, (Higgs Boson) has nothing to do with this conversation, really.  The "God particle" was a cute name given to the hypothetical particles allowing for the higgs field, responsible for quantum gravity and thus the formation of hydrogen, dust, stars and what have you following.

What I am talking about is quantum communication and relays through a phenomenon knows as quantum entanglement which is evident to exist and not theory.

Through this process it is scientifically plausible that the universe works like a quantum computer.  That's....well a lot like God.

Or we are in a computer simulation & some zit covered teen is laughing his ass off

Are we living in a computer simulation?

The question seems absurd. Yet there are plenty of smart people who are convinced that this is not only possible but perhaps likely.

In an influential paper that laid out the theory, the Oxford philosopher Nick Bostrom showed that at least one of three possibilities is true: 1) All human-like civilizations in the universe go extinct before they develop the technological capacity to create simulated realities; 2) if any civilizations do reach this phase of technological maturity, none of them will bother to run simulations; or 3) advanced civilizations would have the ability to create many, many simulations, and that means there are far more simulated worlds than non-simulated ones.

The skit was to my point -

God can be want you want him / her / it to be !!

The thing fundamentalists have in common with 20th century dictators is they all like a single strong old guy telling them what to do.   Disbelieving your own common sense and listening to "the one" is their ideology.

Some sources are better than others.  I mean, let's say a type 4 civilization (one capable of creating universes) existed and created ours, no it would not be on some nerdy aliens game.  That just....not how math works.  But if that wast the case that civilization could assuredly save our space and the intelligent of ours so that life could be reviewed as being right or wrong and sent to a hell or a heaven afterwards and create messiahs to lead us onto the right path per the desired destination of the game.

I mean science says people who flatley dismiss a higher power could be wrong, very wrong.

@renoskier read thread.

Doesn't mean a god - just means someone else created a thing

The "god" creation of the human mind isn't what might be behind the whole thing

I mean, something that is always and forever that created us with intelligence so great there is no way we could comprehend it is...well....God.

And it could very well want us, it's creation, to follow a certain path and send it's "son" to us to help get us there.

Sorry that the science allows for God, and Christianity.  That must make you mad.

Good to see people have learned to discuss religion rationally.  Politics cant be far behind...

In the beginning the Universe was created.
This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

Cult leaders generally aren't down with DEMOCRATIC socialism.   Most strongmen will say anything their cult members want to hear to get power.   That is how a thrice married pornstar screwing apostate can become the golden idol for religious fundamentalists.

Oh man.... you are going down a rabbit hole.   Do you know how many philosophers have tried to prove the existence of God using thought experiments?  That is why they call it faith.....
