Maybe it will help me get yours, too?

Neocon?  Not even close, and not that I’ll ever take anything personally (I gave a laugh emoji for fvcks sake), but the last thing I’ve done is proposed I’m a foreign policy expert especially for the ME.  Questioning or pushing back on absolutes isn’t that at all.

I'm just a truck driver in India.

That’s why, and I didn’t even look it up, a country with a regionally higher GDP/cap. with a poor gini coefficient is a sign of problematic inequality.  Relative deprivation and all.

I’m going to start that deeper dive Libya thread.  Maybe later this evening?

Well the argument kind of dies because there are no gini numbers for Libya.  So it's kind of like a "I am guessing they are bad to make a point" type thing.

You can find them for Libya if you dig a bit, but seriously I think I forgo that deep dive here.  Maybe via PM?  Metro guy and Joe cheers on teachers like Dixie clones. Lmfao.

However, as Libya has no GINI scores I am going to guess based on the wealth increase of the gen pop which we do have numbers for, that they are probably lower than ours in the US (where lower means more equal).

Gini scores really don't tell much of a story on their own.

Metro and Joe are assholes in the extreme  (I am right there with em) but they are my assholes and they are far smarter than Dixie and unlike dixie are known to back down when confronted with arguments that show they are just...not accurate.

Spent about 30 minutes looking for gini numbers for Libya, found nothing.  And my google fu is pretty strong.

I found some data, but not going to take the time to find.  Expected range, but agree on your last sentence. That’s why relative deprivation may have some import (not declaring it does here).

Sorry for losing you 30 mts. of prime time.

Teachers are mostly a terrible lot because they all lose interest and become serial complainers who loathe helping kids as soon as they get tenure. There are some good ones, but they’re mostly few and far between.

Lame take.

GJ is good people.  I am friends with a lot of the people he has taught and to a T, they all consider him a big influence on their lives.  He also keeps in contact with his students well after the leave and has a personal relationship with many, including writing to inmates, encouraging others when they do good.

He is the kinda teacher students just wanted to be friends with.

Cool. Glad you guys are friends. Still doesn’t change my take on teachers though...or move the needle.

You are speaking to a dude that got expelled because teachers did not like him, despite being on the chess team, debate team, track and field captain and 3 sport letter winner.

Not a fan of teachers really, myself.  But based on the amount of students of his he is friends with on facebook, many of which were party animal shit heads, He is one of the good ones.

He is just way off base on his "libya was not that bad" thing.

There’s a reason we’ve fallen behind the rest of the world in education...quality of teachers in this country are trash by and large...couple that with disastrous federal embracing of new “quick fixes” every few years, a hell bented-ness of saying every kid needs to be at a 4 year school and well...

That’s not my view in at all. My push back has always been on the absolutism of expressed views infected with post hoc fallacy.

I mean it is far simpler than I think you give it credit for.  Judging it as right or wrong hardly needs some deep, complex understanding here.

Gaddafi did what we have been trying to get Kim to do.  He gave up his nuclear and missile research around the time of the Iraq invasion and denounced terrorism and they were good actors for 9 years, based on the expectation we would leave them alone.  He did and gave up all the right things.  That led to him getting raped to death with a bayonet due to Obama's influence and desire to back groups opposing him during the arab spring.

This betrayal certainly impacts our credibility with other regimes, primarily North korea.

The fallout from the US led backing of anti Gaddafi troops has been horrific.  Without Obama and Hilldog pushing for regime change, the civil war is ended, Gaddafi remains in power, Libya is better off and the US still has credibility when negotiating with other dangerous regimes when asking them to de-arm.

I don’t think Iran will be deterred for blowing up their meth lab.

Is that all you got? I already explained that I thought of the first thing that came to mind that the gov. could perceive to be a threat. I could’ve said “a little girl and her dolly”. The issue is that you’ll never know for sure why it was done because you don’t have access to any intelligence to be able to fairly judge if the strike was prudent. Kind of ironic that you don’t get the point because you don’t have access to intelligence in your brain, either, because you’ve never been intelligent. 🤪😹😂😝🤣👍

I’ll send you that PM when I find the article that I’m thinking of.

Qaddafis cardinal sin was that he wanted to get off the Petrodollar valuation of oil, and I think had some dirt on Sarkozy for one thing or another.

And there was this.

I don’t understand the logic that Socialist  strong-arm dictators are the only form of acceptable government in the ME. Do you and Joe think Turkey’s move away from democracy toward autocracy is going to be a good thing?

And y’all’s ad hominem attacks are bluerules level weak.  Have you even taken Organic Chemistry?

Wow, cynical much? I hope you're 80 something because if not, it's going to be miserable life.

First glance, I thought another tornado had touched down in Kansas.

Insult Kansas all you want, and I’ll agree. You’re acting like bagging on this place will bother me. They have to pay a huge premium to engineers to come work out here, and that’s the only reason I came out here for a bit. I’m out of here very soon, though.
