I appreciate the level of cognitive dissonance it takes to say all that and then referencing what I'm sure is Christianity.

I'm sure he believes that private charity is better than any sort of government assistance.

I guess I just don't know what we pay for as citizens.  Can they get their money back if they all have to bootstrap while you take their money?

The audacity to expect functioning infrastructure after paying taxes! And what a bunch of socialists for expecting services they pay for!

Sounds like a good patriot who will jump over the counter at Mc Donald's when they get his order wrong and fix it himself. He would not dare complain because he is not a socialist and not part of the problem.

Somebody correct me here because I am super ignorant on the ins and outs of Texas taxes.  Texas has had booming, incredible growth because they collect less in taxes, right?  They have no state income tax.  They have a sales tax rate about like Idaho's IIRC.  Most of their revenue would come from sales tax and receipts, right?

What is their yearly budget, quick google search show 50 billion from all sources for a population 30 mil?  Any politician that proposed more taxes to account for a once in a 3 decade weather event would have been laughed at.

What do?  You can't fix the infrastructure in Texas without significant investment.  And who knows when it will happen again?

Also I can not help but be really +++++ing smug right now as people laugh at preppers for being paranoid.  The Texas California preppers are snug, well fed and living easy street right now.

It looks like someone lost their patience after twenty calls to City Hall requesting the power and heat be turned back on. I thought Texans were tough. 😀

Anyone else ever had their furnace go out in the dead of winter? We had it happen once. It took about three days to get it fixed. In the meantime we wore parkas all day, stoked up the fireplace, and slept in front of it.

Look at HMHB. He’s going out alone in the dead of winter for a week solely for the experience.

Texas has no income tax, but you get RAPED on property tax. It is beneficial to live there if you are a very high income earner. My brother in TX pays like 12k a year on a house that would be like $1,500 here in Wyoming. I was dumbfounded.

Services cost money

The one part of his FB post that rang true - the strong will survive, and the weak will perish!

Mind you, he did state "parish" not "perish", so perhaps he meant the weak (him) will bitch to God at how he had been so forsaken to have such a bad thing happen to him.

No "handouts" to him or his wife!

Damn you gotta love the dedication of the moronic class that prattles out "socialism" every time they get the chance.  Too bad they only have the conservative media understanding of what it means.
