Glad we got two wins, but these shouldn't have been close.  UNLV is way under performing this season, and they are running out of time to get it going.  Looking like another throw away season.

Tbh, this season is a throwaway year for a lot of teams.  I still put a lot of stock into Otzelberger’s first year.

Having a normal offseason will be huge for UNLV and all of the other programs that had a lot of newcomers.

I threw away this season after we took 33 days off after a 1-4 start. Otz can't have the whole team turnover again this off-season, needs continuity and an impact transfer or two to make a step-up. Diong opting to get an extra senior year will help too.

I can’t find any disagreement with this.

At minimum, I would expect 8 scholarship players back, probably 9-10.  It’s not gonna be a complete rebuild like this year.

I know he’s been out looking for a PG.  He’s talked with Milos Uzan about reclassifying, and he will undoubtedly pursue grad transfers.

I would be surprised if Diong doesn’t return.

David Jenkins Jr. made 6 of 8 3-pointers and scored a game-high 26 points to lead the Runnin' Rebels (8-9, 5-5). Bryce Hamilton was the only other UNLV player to score in double figures as he contributed 14 points on 7 of 9 from the floor. His playing time was limited late in the game as he picked up his fourth foul with 13:25 to go.

Air Force (4-14, 2-12) was led by AJ Walker's 20 points and Nikc Jackson's 18.

STAT OF THE GAME: UNLV shot 60.9% from the field in the second half (14 of 23), including 60% on 3-pointers (6 of 10). The Runnin' Rebels finished the game at 55.6% from the field (25 of 45) and 56.3% on 3-pointers (9 of 16).

TURNING POINT: Trailing by a point with 8:55 to go (47-46), UNLV used an 8-0 run for a little separation and led 54-47 with 6:11 to play. Air Force cut it to four points twice with under two minutes to go, but UNLV held on.

QUOTABLE: "We knew coming into this series with a younger group, guarding some of their actions was going to be challenging for our guys to stay the course for longer defensive possessions. I felt like there were times tonight we were good defensively and there were others when there were things we could have done better. Overall, it was good to see David step up for us. He had that aggressiveness offensively - that's the guy we need out there every night. When he's playing with that level of tenacity and competitive spirit, he can be great for us. Fortunate to come out with a win and we will move on to the next one." - UNLV head coach T.J. Otzelberger

NOTES:
- It marked the Runnin' Rebels' 10th straight win at home over Air Force. UNLV is now 30-2 all-time against the Falcons at home.
- Jenkins was 9 of 14 from the floor for the game and 20 of his points came after halftime.
- UNLV out-rebounded Air Force 30-20.
- UNLV has now shot 50% or better from the field this season seven times and is 6-1 in such games.
- It marked UNLV's second Mountain West sweep of the season (also swept New Mexico at home).
- There were 10 lead changes and three ties throughout the game.
- UNLV led in bench points, 32-12.
- UNLV trailed at the half, 34-28.
UNLV has made at least one 3-pointer in a NCAA-record 1,119 straight games.

Diong already said he's coming back next year.

I will never get too worked up over not playing well against AFA, they're never easy, especially for new players that have never played against them. Reno lost to them, IIRC, I'm always glad to get the win, regardless of how it happens.

I think there’s a lot that goes into playing Air Force and its made easier if you have a coaching staff with experience against them and more experienced players.  Somehow both Nevada and Wyoming figured out ways to blow solid halftime leads to the Falcons. The Nevada loss was flat out shocking given Alford and Neal’s experience.
