Today's Assault on Constitutional Democracy Gamethread

Recommended Posts

Trump kinda softened his tone at the end of his speech. Inasmuch that he seemed to be talking about continuing a MAGA movement without him as president.

But still, 95% of it was shear madness and lies.

Joint Session has been disbanded for each chamber to debate separately.

Can't stand to watch. Main Street in a small Wyoming town right now are 30 or 40 people standing around with Don't Tread On Me flags. One flag with a machine gun on it that says Come Take It From Me.

Gob help us!

Scalise making the point that the state legislatures choose electors and some nonsense about the SOS and the Governor do not.

LOL, the legislatures did approve them and certified the elections.

Protestors are trying to bust through the police barrier at the capital. They've sprayed the cops with their own pepper spray stuff, been pepper sprayed back. They're calling them traitors, trying to rip the barrier down, assaulting the cops, and I've even heard what sounded like small explosions go off as well.

This is insanity.

Let the GOP bloodletting begin...

Planning is an exercise of power, and in a modern state much real power is suffused with boredom. The agents of planning are usually boring; the planning process is boring; the implementation of plans is always boring. In a democracy boredom works for bureaucracies and corporations as smell works for skunk. It keeps danger away. Power does not have to be exercised behind the scenes. It can be open. The audience is asleep. The modern world is forged amidst our inattention.

The shitshow has begun. The first dispute, this one for Arizona helmed by shitstain Cruz and just as big a shitstain Gosar. The GOP in attendance are actually applauding.

I think I’ve told people on here before, but I knew Gosar a little bit. My wife worked for him after she graduated from NAU. I’ve had dinner with him and even argued politics with him. He was just a dentist back then: a normal conservative and a decent guy. But he’s gone off the deep end since.

Sooner or later Trump turns on everyone.  He'll use them until it no longer serves him.  Then he'll turn on them, blaming them for his failures.  If his children ever had the courage to oppose him he'd turn on them to in a heartbeat.  To a person everyone at Trumps rally today is a dead ender.  They'll submit to his whims and delusions until the end.  Weak and feable minds as they cheer like the servile scum they are.  Pathetic.
