Boise State @ SJSU

I’ve seen the replay. It revealed that James Jones #3 pushed Orlando Scandrick #8 in the back. So, there was an infraction on that play, in which the officials just happen to spot out. Nothing phantom about it.

It was ticky tacky and didn’t have an impact on the play. Yonus Davis should have had that TD.

When we lost to New Mexico the refs made an absolutely ridiculous call in our favor to give us another chance at 4th down. Total phantom call. But we still couldn’t do anything. As much as we pay those guys they need to give us some of those calls early on.

Good piece from the MWN:

As the saying goes, "whatever doesn't kill us makes us stronger".  I think that applies to the 2020 Spartans this year, given how nomadic they have had to become this year.

@Joe from WY

You been seeing the 'H' on the back of the helmets to honor Humboldt State?

Planning is an exercise of power, and in a modern state much real power is suffused with boredom. The agents of planning are usually boring; the planning process is boring; the implementation of plans is always boring. In a democracy boredom works for bureaucracies and corporations as smell works for skunk. It keeps danger away. Power does not have to be exercised behind the scenes. It can be open. The audience is asleep. The modern world is forged amidst our inattention.

Even if it was ticky tacky, it didn't prevent the Spartans from having the ball and an 8-point lead in the 4th quarter.  They still had a chance to put the game away, considering how efficient they were on 3rd down throughout that game.  But they failed to do so.  Good call or bad call, you still have to find a way to win.

BSU guy hyping up their defense gets brought back down to earth:

SJSU hasn't played a tougher schedule, and they are ranked 83rd in the category.  It's a pretty dumb stat in general, but Boise hasn't given up SJSU's average of 42% on 3rd Downs in a single game this year.  That's pretty good even if Wyoming and CSU both suck on offense.

This game, like the entire year, will be decided by COVID.

Boise State at anything near full strength on a neutral field may be too much for this vastly improved SJSU to handle.

Boise State at #vsBYU and #vsWyoming COVID-decimated levels will be passing the MWC Championship mantle to SJSU.

BSU fans already setting up the Trumpian circular logic...

If BSU wins it's because the gap between SJSU and them is HUGE AND INSURMOUNTABLE. If BSU loses it's because of COVID, so it really doesn't count.

It's in the term sheet.

You had the toughest game, but it was OOC and SDSU played them closer (with a terrible offense and QB). Your conference schedule was weak AF though.

It's the inverse of what happened to BYU. In BYU's best season in recent memory, they're so-called signature win (at the time) amongst the array of cupcakes was a blowout of a handicapped Boise State team. CCU showed the true level of BYU.

The never correct transitive scores between BSU and SJSU are interesting: SJSU v Air Force 17-16, BSU v Air Force 49-30; SJSU v Hawaii 35-24, BSU v Hawaii 40-32.

I don't know how good Boise State would be at "full strength" because I don't believe I've seen it this year. Nor do I know how good this much-improved SJSU team is or how impacted they are by COVID. But it would be sad in their magical season if they turn out to be worse than a COVID-depleted Boise State. #notsayinjustsayin

Nah.  Sparky is wrong.  Boise will have just about everyone back (unless there's a bunch of new positive tests) for this one.  Holani is a question mark - but that's on AFA, not Covid.  If San Jose wins it will be because they were able to get a lot of pressure on Boise QBs, shut down the Boise running game (hasn't been hard lately), and get favorable matchups between their WR's on our Safeties.
