Harsin urged BSU to leave the MWC

Time marches on and circumstances change. The time period you're referencing is a decade ago. A whole lot changes over the course of ten years. TCU, Utah and BYU aren't walking through that door. Back when they were in the conference, it could very well be argued that the conference did not need Boise State.

They aren't anymore.

Nor can BSU be replaced. BSU IS the replacement for the teams mentioned. There's no team out there that replicates what BSU can and does bring to the conference. That's not arrogance, it's just reality at the moment. You certainly COULD replace BSU in the event that the school left, but it would be a far, far inferior replacement option and the conference as a whole would take a major hit.

I'm generally onboard for any comment criticizing Hair, but not acting for pure spite and angst is what separates message board posters from school presidents or conference commissioners.

Boise can learn from TCU and Utah on how they handled their business, but it seems like they want to use the YBU tactics to bitch their way out of this conference, and you can see how it’s working out for YBU.

Not only that but Boise forgets how they left this conference the first time. As far as replacing them, they aren’t that annual NY6/CFP playoff team anymore. That clearly left with Peterson. They can go to the AAC but won’t be long until they are unhappy and shit everywhere in their new digs.

Funny thing about it is once Utah was invited by the PAC, we never heard from this guy ever again.

Funny, dont see 1 word in there about a complaint about the conference.  It was about the system.  And EVERYBODY was bitching about it.  And for those who like to bitch about him, the conference commissioner who was out front was Thompson.

This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

Good grief. Well it has worked out better than the MWC. BYU fans are spoiled rotten. It’s going pretty well. We belong to easily the 2nd best if not the best basketball conference in the west. Football even last year was good not great. A down year we beat Tenn and USC. We are a top 20 team this year. Pull off your thick coke bottle glasses. BYU has zero regrets for leaving.

They left the conference the first time for what was, at that point, an auto-bid power conference. SDSU left with because the AAC gave assurances that they were going to build a viable western division to help those two schools. That never happened and the Big-East/AAC lost it's autobid status, so BSU negotiated terms to come back. I see nothing wrong with their actions. Any school here would leave the conference in a heartbeat for a chance at being in a power conference.

And, as has been pointed out repeatedly by many different posters, Harsin does not speak for BSU. Private emails from him to the school administration expressing an opinion are not the same thing as the administration's position.

At no time has BSU tried to "bitch it's way out" of the conference. The closest equivalent is that they went to court to enforce the contract in place from when they returned the first time.

BYU and the MWC are in a good place right now. The MWC is a close ally with BYU. Which is hard to believe. If BSU leaves our relationship will only get better.

I suspect the Tom will probably add more MWC teams to future schedules to pay the conference back for this year. Usually we don’t like to play more than 3 MWC teams. He will probably go to 4 a year.

I tried to tell you asshats this and it fell on deaf ears. (Granted the last few leaks were a big bust anyway thanks to Covid and a few job shuffles so it was understandable you all had doubts.) I even told you Harsin was leading the charge and ESPN was gonna tell the AAC to ask Boise State who their friends are.

But this is old news and things have changed in the college landscape. If anything conferences are no longer regional enough.

But for shits and giggles : If Boise State does not have three western teams going with them as full members there isn't a move happening. But the AAC was gonna make it work to get them closer to P6 status. SDSU, Colorado State, and New Mexico were the favorites. Don't know why and never heard anything else. Don't know why Air Force wasn't mentioned (I'm assuming Navy didn't want them I guess.) And BYU would still make too much $ to make the jump worth it to them. That's the last thing I heard and that was the end of summer. So most of that is old news.

One thing that is a fact: No full membership, no move, FOX and CBS won't pay more to make people happy like they did this season, so I guess see you in court... I don't think it's happening now.

Well SDSU was a brief member. I wonder why CSU and New Mexico didn’t want to go. Probably the full membership. SDSU probably would have get in the WCC. The other 3 would have been in WAC, Big West or Big Sky.

Independence has worked far better for BYU than the MWC is working for UNLV.  One school was Top20 in bball last season and is currently Top20 in fball.  Other olympic sports are thriving in a much better conference.  The other school?  Well...  😂

That you are comparing BYU to UNLV speaks volumes.  Talk about a low bar...

UNLV f themselves when they didn’t join the WAC with the evil rival BYU. It was a horrible decision with consequences they are still dealing with. LOL their pride and actually thinking they could strong arm BYU was their undoing. BYU pretty much gave UNLV a choke hold body slam.

Blowing up the WAC actually worked out better for BYU. We would have played 5 to 6 WAC schools instead of the 3 we do now plus no Gonzaga basketball. I think a revised WAC would have been a lot better for a number of teams instead of the MWC.

BYU is in a multi bid basketball league and MWC is a one bid league.

But it is all under the bridge now. BYU and MWC are best of friends. Funny how that worked out.

Dude I have been to a TCU game. BYU fans out numbered the horn frogs. You were extremely lucky you were located in Texas. Just look at Nebraska that is why TCU was added. Another recruiting trip to Texas. P5 or not you are midget compared to BYU. BYU’s fanbase  dwarfs TCU’s.

There is no possible way you could make the money BYU does as an independent.

If Texas and OU decide to leave the B12 has little left.

This story was posted on Yahoo sports.   BSU has never been a good conference member.  When things fail wherever they go, the MWC should not take them back.  Their Olympic sports will suffer when they leave the MWC.   BSU fans will have to accept that fact.  San Jose State, Nevada, and Fresno State all appear to be on the upward trend so I don't think the MWC will miss BSU in the long run.

Boise fans used to flood this board begging to  be invited to this conference and look at them now.

I like the MWC as much as anybody, but you have completely lost the plot if you think Boise State was "begging" to join THIS Conference. We wanted to join the MWC that included BYU/TCU/Utah.

Hell look around; we were already in "this" Conference.

What a +++++ing wimp you are.

You are implying what exactly? That the Big West dropping Football and the WAC falling apart are somehow because of Boise State? Piss off with this weak ass shit rookie.

SJSU has NEVER earned a +++++ing dollar of TV revenue. FINALLY doing something about that shit stain of a stadium, probably waaaaay too late but at least you are (apparently) trying. Get some god damned fans and supporters and try being even marginally relevant before you talk about Boise State not being a "good conference member". You guys have no business even being in the same sentence as Boise State Football.
