A punter? Seriously?

Recommended Posts

The MWC would have probably given the STPOTW to a long snapper to prevent Avery Williams from getting it on consecutive weeks. Those are pretty impressive stats by the Nevada punter, but Williams single handily took over the BSU/Hawaii game with his punt and kickoff returns. If he wouldn't have won it the previous week he would have got it this week.

Williams has already wrapped up the MWC STPOY award anyway, so I'm sure the MWC is just spreading the wealth with the weekly award.

Diaz absolutely deserves recognition.  He is the reason Nevada beat Wyoming plain and simple.  Wyoming likely wins without that 76 yard punt.

Sorry you don’t understand the advantage and importance that flipping the field position can have.

Understand it just fine! You don't Understand the value of flipping field position on returns. It works both ways!

Sorry, but IMO a 34 yard punt return, 36 yard punt return, and 99 yard kickoff return for a touchdown is more valuable than a few 50+ yarders.

Especially considering our punt returner contributed as much to the success by letting multiple easy fair catches go and they bounced the extra 15-20 yards.

Read the topic.  It is ‘a punter, seriously?’...thereby implying that a punter should not be deserving of a weekly award.  My post says nothing about returners.

A punter won the award three times last year....the same punter, in fact. A good punter who can flip the field is a great thing to have.

That punter, or any punter for that matter, couldn’t do jack shit without the long snapper. It’s time we gave long overdue and just recognition to the forgotten heroes of the gridiron. May God bless all you long snappers out there.

Please.   You know you are talking to fans of THE long snapper U, right?

Who can forget when they shocked the recruting world by landing a generational 5 star long snapper?

The sport has never been the same since that 5 star blue chip came in and transformed it.

They were talking about it again on College Gameday this weekend. He led the nation in long snapping for four years.....never before and never since has someone dominated at putting something between his legs. Ph is a close second.

He possibly saved the game at the end of the first half when he pinned the Aztecs back. Aztecs were having their way with us at that point and they decided to run out the clock. He absolutely deserved it.

That's like saying a running back shouldn't have gotten a player of the week because much of his success was the LBs letting him run past themselves and got an extra 10 yards.
