Disbelief Omg GIF by Red Fang

I don't even know what to say...

They know their target audience.  I don't see how this works in a general election (again), but I can hear the cheers from the red south watching this video.  They eat this stuff up.   My goodness, it is painful to watch and even harder to believe that this man was president for 4 years.

This video and the plan are the final form of parents blaming schools for the failure of parents to, well, parent.

Some real bangers in this one:

  • "Our public schools have been taken over by the radical left maniacs."
  • "Direct the department of justice to open civil rights investigations."
  • "The Marxisim being preached in our schools is also totally hostile to Judeo-Christian teachings and in many ways it's resembling an established new religion."  So now we are concerned about the establishment of religion in schools?
  • "On day one we will begin to find and remove the radical zealots and Marxists who have infiltrated the Federal Department of Education.  And that also includes other, and you know who you are."  Oh yeah, that's the good stuff.  Mmmm, yes.  Direct us to which group of people to hate and fear, fascist daddy.  In all seriousness, who makes the determination on who is a "radical zealot" or "Marxist" in this plan?
  • "We will create a new credentialing body."   Also know as the "NCB."
  • "Step 1.  Abolish teacher tenure for grades K-12. So we can remove bad teachers..."  Why abolish teacher tenure, when you can just have the "NCB" round the bad teachers up and execute them on campus?

I kid, but I still fail to see how the President directing the department of education to round up all the "radical zealots and Marxists" is considered the ultimate form of local control?  Is this really a problem in our schools?  I know several teachers, and I wouldn't consider any of them as being radical.  More like...boring.

Here's an Education kicker for you all.

The Utah Leg has approved a Voucher plan for all students up to $8K per year.

Sounds great on the surface, until you find out the State is only putting up $4750 per year for Public School Students.

Instead of enriching Private Schools, why doesn't the State invest more in their own Public School System ?

Why is the State of Utah willing to pass billions if our Tax dollars along to swindlers like Betsy DeVoss ?

Have our Legislators caved to the Private Ed Industries demands ?

Do they not want to deal with fixing the problems of their own School System ?

Is it really a good idea for our kids to attend Private Schools where these Schools are not responsible to the State for curriculum standards, hiring practices, etc. ?

What about kids who live in areas where there are no Private Schools? Their only option is a financially reduced Public Education.

What if the only Private Schools are LDS based and your kids are not LdS ?

So many pins to poke holes at this Politically and Emotionally tinged subject.

Personally, I believe the current push towards vouchers is parents wanting their kids to be Patriotically and Religiously Indoctrinated, coupled with CRT mania, not wanting their kids in Schools with large minority populations, and the parents LGBTQ phobias.

It is, which is how we end up with stories like the ones out of Ohio, where we see a homeschool network of neo-Nazis.

Not sure where to put this but I'm starting to think the Conservative SCOTUS majority is going to continue to hurt the Republican party the way their Roe decision likely hurt the party during the midterms. Why do I say this?

Student loan debt...but thats just the issue this time. The real issue in the conflict between public sentiment and the decisions the court is likely to make with a conservative majority. TBH, I thought the forgiveness stuff was going to be an issue for the left and that is clearly turning out to be wrong. The right has benefited for decades from voter apathy among the young...but instead it seems the court will continue to activate that group for the time being.

Right now the public is split about 50/50 on this issue...but that trend will likely swing to favor forgiveness overtime as every new student exposed to the current level of debt needed to obtain a 4 year degree gets worse. IOW the right is going to face the challenge of solving the issue or eventually the voting public is going to make the party pay for obstructing.
