Who gives a shit. The current Republican Party are a bunch of pussies that will never take a stand on anything other than what pads their wallet.

you say this over and over and have, to my knowledge, never substantiated it or even defended it when questioned. You also never seem to acknowledge that Republicans of about the entire 20th century were more likely to compromise and craft bipartisan bills than Republicans of today, and that there were progressive and liberal Republicans as recently as the '70s.

Remember that every argument you have with someone on MWCboard is actually the continuation of a different argument they had with someone else also on MWCboard.

The GOP national party is not what's terrifying. It's the state GOP parties that are going to be pushing anti-democratic policies in the coming years. The next election, I don't expect there'll be many state election officials in red states that will do the right thing.

I posted on the MTG thread that she is also pushing the "not our people at the Capitol" bit again also.

But you are correct, the state GOP's are moving on the next elections.

Besides introducing bills to place more restrictions on voting in some states (some proposals are good, others are obvious moves to stop "those" people from voting), this was introduced in the Arizona Legislature.

Rep. Shawnna Bolick, R-Phoenix, has proposed letting the Legislature void the results of a presidential election if it chooses.

House Bill 2720 would allow the House, by a majority vote, to revoke the secretary of state’s certification of presidential electors chosen by Arizona voters to cast the state’s electoral college votes.

After the bill was proposed, Secretary of State Katie Hobbs questioned why the Legislature doesn’t get rid of the presidential election altogether, contending that's essentially what Bolick’s bill would do.

As currently proposed, Arizona's House Bill 2720 would allow the state legislature to overturn the election certification at any time until the Presidential Inauguration, for any reason, by a simple majority vote.

Basically it would allow the Arizona Legislature (which currently has a very close GOP majority in both houses) to say with a simply majority that they didn't like the election outcome and want to change the electoral votes.

Never heard of him before but the dude sure fits the definition of a Republican politician. Which is to say white, middle-aged male who wears conservative suits and has an estimated personal worth of $1M-$5M which has grown significantly in recent years despite him living in an economically depressed area.

Quite likely supported by millions of Gullible's Travels folks.

A fifth Republican senator decided to pass up a 2022 reelection bid, complicating GOP efforts to reclaim control of the U.S. Senate.

Sen. Roy Blunt, R-Mo., who turned 71 in January, announced his retirement via video Monday, citing his decades of public service as a factor in his decision.

“After 14 general election victories – three to county office, seven to the United States House of Representatives and four statewide elections – I won’t be a candidate for reelection to the United States Senate next year," Blunt said.

In declining to run in 2022, Blunt joins retiring Republican Sens. Rob Portman of Ohio, Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania, Richard Shelby of Alabama and Richard Burr of North Carolina.

It would appear that the prospect of having to fight Pro-Trump Qandidates (and likely Trump himself) in the Primary and then have to defend their stances in the General just isn't all that appealing.
