Georgia Senate Runoff Thread

Would require a decent amount of ticket splitting

I think Loeffler is more unpopular, so it wouldn’t be a complete shock if this happened. I do agree though that it’s more likely we see both seats go to the same party. I think the Dems dump an ungodly sum of money and deploy Obama, Biden, Harris, Bottoms, and Abrams for both candidates. I think Killer Mike will probably be out there for at least Warnock, maybe both. On the GOP side I’m curious if they try to get behind both or just try to go all out for Purdue to “guarantee” they at least keep the majority.

I don’t envy the GOP establishment trying to thread that needle of allocating resources and how much their candidates will support or distance themselves from Trump. Stay fully on the Trump Train, and you are hitching your wagon to a guy that literally just lost the state, that seems risky. But distance from Trump and you risk alienating the hardcore Trumpists, and they probably sit out. Being wishy washy probably just pisses off moderate both Republicans and Trumpists. The Dems, on the other hand, will have a very simple message. It will be interesting to see if they pull it off.

I think they may have gotten crushed if he wasn't there judging by the other races.  Both sides had huge turnout and the cons drove up their turnout too but Georgia is still now a blue state.

I think they may be sending out a ton of mail in ballots as well.  Georgians looks to be able to request them now.  If Republicans still eschew mail in ballots they could get crushed if they are depending on huge numbers of people to show up only on voting day.  People have to work and that introduces a lot of risk for them.

Will Republicans go against Trump to push mail in ballots for the runoff?  That could cause problems.

Georgia is not a blue state.  It is not any more blue than Michigan and Wisconsin are red.

Well, all three of those states voted for Biden. They aren't blue, but they are purple.

Should depress turnout in GA. Manchin is a loyal operative. Good!

I own a vehicle likely worth more than everything you own combined and just flew first class (including a ticket for a 2 1/2 year old), round trip to Las Vegas and I'm not 35 yet. When you accomplish something outside of finishing a book, let me know. When's the last time you saw a 2 year old fly first class in their own seat? Don't tell me about elite.

Great news for the Senate races in Georgia.

Lol what are they gonna say. “Aww shucks activists, we’d take the position you like but Joe Manchin said no.”

We’re all sitting in the dugout. Thinking we should pitch. How you gonna throw a shutout when all you do is bitch.

As far as I know, neither of these two candidates are anything more then standard Dems. Knowing that a radical Marxist antifa anarchist thing like ending the filibuster isn’t really on the table should help undercut that “He’S a SoCiAlIsT” line that every Republican likes to trot out.

Some legislation can pass with 50 votes + VP

Byrd rule rules out a lot of things when it takes 60 votes to overturn an objection to extraneous measures.

Still plenty of improvements that can be passed through reconciliation. Mitch took advantage of it quite a few times

Just once with the tax cuts after repealing Obamacare failed.

Vs Minions for McConnell. Should be an interesting contest.

I’d hit Perdue for investing in medical stocks after an early Covid briefing and not shouting the warning from the rafters.
