Yes. The Bay Area is crazy. Yes I have CDS. Screw this.

Berkeley is not California.

Planning is an exercise of power, and in a modern state much real power is suffused with boredom. The agents of planning are usually boring; the planning process is boring; the implementation of plans is always boring. In a democracy boredom works for bureaucracies and corporations as smell works for skunk. It keeps danger away. Power does not have to be exercised behind the scenes. It can be open. The audience is asleep. The modern world is forged amidst our inattention.

As goes Berkely, so goes Cali years later.

In what sense? I was in berkeley a couple weeks ago. Nothing like the places in the stste I've been otherwise over the last few months.

Berkeley is full of rich people and hippies. The rest of California is full of rich people, hillbillies and Mexicans.

By the way... living amongst the mexicans is the best choice.

It does seem though like what the Bay does, eventually, years later, becomes the states position.

Am I wrong?

Honestly, It depends on the policy. One thing is true... the bay are is still a driving force in the machine here. But the state is a complicated place.

But I'll agree with you... Berkeley sucks. Seriously, +++++ that place.

We have Mexican hillbillies. They're the best.

It’s a ridiculous place that is almost a caricature of itself.

It has always seemed from my outsider perspective that the bay is the canary in the coal mine for California.  You are right though, I do not know all the positions that gained traction in Berkley that never gained traction in the state, only a few that did.

This just seems absurd.  Not allowing a candy bar to be sold?  Really?

There will never be a day when I can't buy a candy bar in the front of a store in my California town. For what it's worth.

Like I said, Berkeley sucks. I think the real hippies have even been priced out of there. They're moving to Stockton

Two Oh Niiiiine!!!!

Non-Coastal California has never been a Berkeley.  SD is purple, but not as loony as Berkeley and will never be, as it rejects LA and has a heavy military and Veteran population.

So it should be amended to "some of California is crazy"?

Yeah assuming all of CA is like Berkeley is like assuming all of Idaho is like Hayden Lake.

Okies arent hillbillies, totally different demographic.

And you are neglecting to mention the portagees, jews, the persians (most of whom in socal happen to also be jewish), armenians, the chinese, the vietnamese, the koreans, the salvadorans, the guatemalans, the anglo and dutch south africans, and too many others too mention.

Regardless, phuck Berkeley and Frisco.

Hayden Lake?  Oh I wish all Idaho was like that place.  We ran the racists out of there a long time ago.  It's rural hill folk and rich hill folk there now.
