Morning.  This is an early peek into the highly fertile Houston high school gridiron recruiting grounds for the upcoming 2021 cycle.  The hometown rag did a nice job with its slide show this go round.

In MWC, UNLV lands 2 thus far and props for that.  Here is everyone to date for MWC squads:

  • #41.  Jaylen Lane, S outta Shadow Creek....UNLV.

  • #56.  Drake Martinez, TE outta St. Thomas...Colorado State.

  • #61. Tito Chikere, DL outta Kempner...Fresno State.

  • #71. Cameron Oliver, CB outta Travis...UNLV.

  • #77. Kendric Rhymes, RB outta Heights...Utah State.

  • #85. Dru Polidore, CB outta Tompkins...Air Force.

As always, plenty of Uncommits at this point.  Not to mention the switch-a-roos that will occur during both signing dates.  Good job, MWC thus far.  Omitting my Coogs, MWC is recruiting as much as AAC, more than ACC and B1G, and two less than PAC.

Meh, nothing impressive or note worthy about signing the #70 player in any metro.

Giving "props" to a program for bringing in non ranked recruits or barely three star recruits is stupid.  Even at the lowly G5 MWC level, only recruits in the cities top 50 would be expected to have even a single P5 offer.  In the entire list here, there is only one P5 offer, from KANSAS.

Houston Metro is about the same population as the State of Arizona (7 million).   The top 25 players in that list all have some very impressive offers. Looks like BSU is after a few of these players - but none committed. For whatever reason BSU recruits the DFW metro area (7.5 million pop. - same as Washington State) much more heavily, and already has 4 commits from there.
