Boise fans how is this kid?  He just had a few SDSU coaches following him on Twitter...

He was a decent prospect. Was supposed to provide depth. He never broke into the two deep. Could be good

Nevada picked up a defensive back grad transfer from USF in Bentlee Sanders who was a 3 star coming out of high school.

Maeva started 25 games for Boise (played in 38 games from 2016-18). Sat out at FIU 2019 after transferring - was kicked off of Boise team for marijuana use at a bowl game. Played in 4 games in 2020 (14 tackles) for FIU.  Originally from San Diego Cathedral Catholic HS.

Maeva had recently followed a bunch of SDSU coaches and it seemed he was interested in coming home, but our LB depth is solid and I don’t believe interest was mutual.

yeah we have LB issues, though Arron Mosby being healthy might help.

Even if Mosby is healthy and in shape it’s not gonna matter. He doesn’t like to hit. Really doesn’t have a defender mentality.

another transfer portal get.  Sac State's best DB...he's not a flashy recruit out of HS but he's a sparq god, legit track speed.  10.8 100m.

Deboer's staff is working the portal like madmen this year.

The portal has been very good for SDSU and a lot of MWC schools. IMO it is becoming the great equalizer with the P5.  Its going to allow a lot of MWC schools to quickly talent-up to P5 levels. Hopefully it starts showing when we all play P5 schools.

Not sure if mentioned already, one of SJSU's QB has entered the transfer portal. JuCo transfer QB Jake Simmons.

Hoping the guys coming in work out, but man it seems like our luck w highly rated transfers has not been the best.

My take on transfers:  The ones who have played in games before with their prior schools usually work out and the ones who haven't usually don't.  Think of guys like Christian Heyward, Max Smith, Brice Butler, and Ryan Katz who all previously played at the former schools.  Then think of guys like Dylan Baxter and Jake Rodrigues who hadn't played with their prior school.

Both the transfers coming in this year have played and started in the SEC.  I think they will contribute.

Utah St has already added 9 transfers, including five P5 transfers and three who followed Blake Anderson's staff from Arkansas St.

No, you don't "talent-up to P5 levels" when the P5 transfers are guys who are mostly transferring from P5 because they were buried on the depth chart below the guys who did turn out to be as good as their high school recruiting projections.

The opposite is true with players moving from G5 to lower-tier P5 programs... this week the sack leader of G5 moved to South Carolina, the top WR from C-USA moved to Ole Miss, the top WR from FCS level moved to Nebraska, etc.

This is not a formula for "equalizing".

Two new grad transfers from Georgia/Iowa State have committed

(Slot Cover/LB)Hugh Nelson II from Georgia

(Safety) Arnold Azunna from Iowa State

So far Graham is up to 6 P5 transfers coming in for the '21 season. Can really see where Graham's recruiting ground is going to be along with the number of Midwest HS recruits that signed/committed

2 from Georgia (Kolby Watt [TE], Hugh Nelson II [Slot Cover/LB])

1 from Iowa State (Arnold Azunna [Safety])

1 from Oklahoma (Zacchaeus McKinney [DL])

1 from Baylor (Solomon Turner [LB])

1 from Utah (Pita Tonga [DL])
