Although I do not own a business, much of what this gentleman says expresses my thoughts as well. You may think this State is just fine, and that's fine, we can agree to disagree. I wish you and yours well, but as for me and mine, we will leave as soon as we can. Have lived here all my life, but my wife and I have had enough. All 3 of my kids are out of State, one has put down roots in Lincoln, NE. The other 2 are in college in Utah. My advice to the two younger will be to look elsewhere for a State to call home.

Did you know Nebraska is losing almost as many people, per capita, as California.

A bit on the mass exodus of California

https://calmatters.org/explainers/california-population-migration-census-demographics-immigration/

"Depends on how you look at it. California is losing residents to other states and as the population ages, but those losses are being more than offset by new births and foreign-born immigration. The number of Californians is still increasing, but our once-robust growth rate has slowed."

One group of Californians isn’t looking for greener pastures: college graduates. Over the past five years, California has attracted 162,000 more adults with at least a bachelor’s degree from other states than it has lost, according to the Public Policy Institute of California. The Golden State stands alone in this regard.

“This interstate migration pattern — gaining large numbers of college graduates while losing large numbers of less educated adults — doesn’t happen anywhere else in the country,” the report states.

All states experience shifts in population. California’s numbers are large because the state’s population in general is large. When departures are put into the context of the overall number of households, California ranks 50th in the nation. And if you look at net migration (people leaving compared to people entering), California ranks squarely in the middle of the pack at 27th. Nothing to boast about, but hardly a mass exodus.

CDS (California Derangement Syndrome) cracks me up. This meme conveys the same sentiment...who the phuck cares? Watch, don't watch, move, don't move; why do you feel the need to tell everyone? Nobody cares.

Move to LA for a few years and then get back to us.

In just about every decent size city up and down California there are bums pitching tents under or near freeway overpasses.  I've even seen them on top of the slopes on the sides of the freeways.

I saw one guy snoozing in the shade of a tree in the median on an expressway.  I think he figured it would be hard for police to get to him there?  Freakin out of control.  I'm thinking about going out at night and egging the shit out of them and their camps to get them out of there.

I believe this.  I see the on my FB feed folks says folks are moving from California and that’s unstoppable.  However new folks will find CA and make it their home.

There are bad days (smoke in the air) and there are great days (most other days).  I’m still a believer in the place.  It is highly diverse in demographics and political leaning.

If younger people with college degrees are looking for depth in urban living then west of Chicago, there are no better places than SF and LA.   They’ll come back.

Born here- lived 40 years here, it is a political disaster of a "State" and is just getting worse. The policies in CA have polluted NV-very sad and continue to drop.

Great weather- SD (F-the rest of the place in particular anything north of Camp Pendleton but primarily NOCal) is exceptional yet too tax burdened. The Blew Crew have ruined this state.

In process Viva Mexico!

As the result of the major remodeling we did a few years ago we have sophisticated smoke alarms which measure the quality of our indoor environment. Despite being at least 20 miles from the fire in Monrovia the air in our house has been at the unhealthful level.

Not surprising how many college grads continue to come to California as there continue to be plenty of professional jobs in the state. The problem is for those with blue collar skills. For many years those kinds of people have been unable to afford to buy a home here. Now many can't even afford to rent.

You’re moving to Mexico? You know they have a fairly popular center-left President, right?

the unintentional comedy of those mad at California crack me up.

Name a state with better economic possibilities, recreation and weather.

Depends on what you are looking for.  I will take the recreation opportunities in Alaska, Idaho, Wyoming and Montana over California every single day, from winter to summer.  Economic opportunities, again depends on what you do, what part of California.  Weather?  Wilde Fires say hi.  All 4 season's is amazing, I would hate California weather.

It's not a fluke that 10%+ of the US population lives in California. Like any place it has its problems. But no doubt it is one of the most desirable places in the world to live for most people.

Personally I hate the politics of the state, but glad we have sane thinking people in the San Joaquin Valley. Can't beat the proximately of mountains, valleys, and oceans from where I'm from. And one of the last places in the state that offers big city amenities with affordable housing.

It is nothing special.  Simply consider all the similar littoral regions and latitude of any place else on the planet.

Claro que si...

Mexico in the 70's had a run at Socialism and it caught lots of attention. I have been going with frequency since 1971 (ride race off-road). The difference between now and then (now being the past 25 year) is there is a "Middle Class." Mexico/Latin America is a "New Frontier" for opportunity (keep telling my kids-yes all 5 to seek a life/vocation south).

The "United States of Mexico", now more than ever, will do politically and in a similar fashion, what happens in the United States of American.

California is Toast.  They just don't know it yet. The State Pension plan has unfunded liabilities of more than >$4,000,000,000,000!!

"With very little media notice, the Federal Reserve System late last year doubled its calculation of state and local governments’ unfunded pension liabilities to $4.1 trillion, using a new methodology that was devised by the federal Bureau of Economic Analysis."

I thought your argument was a lot of people living there can't be wrong?  When it's population density is lower than average compared to other the rest of the world in a littoral region on similar parallels.  Why does California suck so much they lag behind the rest of the world and nobody wants to live there?

And let's be real.  The weather in California is shit!  8 month fire season?  Pass.
