why trump will win again

book it.  election results will be close, andthose of us on the left will have suspicions with weak evidence about the integrity of the election but the reality is it'll be because the people who like trump like trump.  and there are more of them in the united states than not.  nothing's going to change their  because trump isn't going to change.

https://www.vox.com/2020/9/2/21409364/trump-approval-rating-2020-election-voters-coronavirus-convention-polls

When Michael Tesler, a political scientist at the University of California Irvine, tries to explain “the amazing stability of Trump’s approval” in his classes, he starts with a question. He asks his students if there’s anything Trump could do to make them support him. And he’s invariably met by a sea of shaking heads. “If you went into Trump’s presidency thinking he’s a racist, sexist, xenophobic, immoral, narcissistic, corrupt, and incompetent person — beliefs held by most Clinton voters — then there’s literally almost nothing he could do to change your mind,” says Tesler.

The same is true in reverse. “If you see Trump as ‘the protector of Western Civilization,’ as Charlie Kirk called him the other night at the RNC, or the protector of white America, as Desmond King and Rogers Smith have called him, defending cherished (white Christian) American values from atheist, left-wing socialists who want to take your guns and put Cory Booker in charge of diversifying your neighborhoods, then there’s almost nothing that would make you abandon him,” Tesler continues.

I think this is definitely true of me.  I don't like Trump because of who he is.  Unless he changes who is, there's no way I could see myself voting for him.  That doesn't mean I think all of the policies he champions or the appointees he...  sigh...  appoints...  are all total and complete failures.  I'm pretty hard set against the guy so I'm loath to find much good in what he does and I think that personally he has precisely zero redeeming qualities.  I can see how those who like him are just plain going to like him seeing as how my mind's made up to dislike him.

Where does that leave us?  Do those who like him have a reasonable take on who he is and how he treats people?  Is their judgment of character sound?  Is mine?  I'd assert my take on his personality and character are judgments made with good conscience, but that's just an assertion.  I'm having a hard time qualifying it in terms divorced from emotion.

I’m telling you, most GOP that support him have a love/hate relationship with him. Maybe hate is strong, but he can piss them off and make them very frustrated. That would also be me. They love the good, wish to God he would grow as a person or at least how to act as president, and that’s mostly not going to happen. He’s definitely learned that what he says around staff can be leaked to the public, and he has learned not to have unnecessary people around him so they can’t make up a story they can’t prove but can prove they were with him.

I think what’s going to happen is Trump will look like he’s going to win in a landslide on election night, but a lot of the mail-ins won’t be counted yet. As they’re counted, his leads will shrink and some of the battlegrounds will be won by Biden by less than a 1,000 votes. I don’t have any doubt that the Dems already have a game plan in Dem controlled precincts in battleground states. They will have bogus ballets to use if they have to. They’ll pretty much know how many votes they need to win, and they’ll suddenly realize a bunch of ballots didn’t get counted as it happens every election. Fraud is easy if it’s done in a hardcore Dem precinct where all the workers and managers will do drastic things to remove Trump, and they will. Trump will have to get enough votes that it makes it impossible to cheat and not get caught.

Democrats went off the deep end calling Republicans enemies of the state. That solves nothing and will only embolden Trumpers and other right wingers to solidify their support. The whole "if you're not with us, then you're against us" mentality is what's ruining this country and I'm over it.

I don't know, Aggie. I think we have a few people in our little message board they went from voting for Trump to probably just not voting. Mid-term turnout was huge and largely seen as a referendum on Trump.

Because this message board is such an excellent sample size for Trump supporters. 😂👍

Seriously, the jobs report was great, the polls have been tightening, the fed officially admitted that Trump was right on the economy and they were wrong, and Joe’s talking about scenarios where if his medical folks tell him to shut the country down again, he’ll do it. That might have just lost him the election. It will haunt him in the debates. I guess Biden doesn’t believe in cost/benefit analysis or ‘unintended consequences’. Medical folks aren’t economists. Shutting down the country would very likely cost us more lives because without the tax revenue coming in, our regular healthcare system will collapse. No cancer treatment when you need it, there’s so many ways that would kill more people. What a boob.

Trump is a narcisstic asshole,  but IMO most of his policies have been good ones. The fact is I fear the Democrat thirst for power at any cost. That has been very apparent in the few years Trump has been in office. Even before he was elected Democrats were abusing the system to keep him from being elected. Then we went through two years of trying to prove collusion, ousting him from within,  and when that didn’t yield the desired results, followed that up with impeachment. Democrat actions during the Kavanaugh hearings were disgusting.

The Democrat quest for big and global government is not something I favor. Climate change policy is not scary in itself other than the high carbon taxes that will be imposed. And inefficient wind spinners and solar power by themselves won’t get it done. I see Universal health care as poorer quality and longer wait times. Defunding the police will result in more crime. Gun control speaks for itself. Forgiving college loans and free college isn’t free. Excessive regulation favored by Democrats stifles business and growth of the economy. Democrats won’t admit it but it’s obvious they favor open borders to establish a base so strong it can’t be challenged. See California. IMO the short and long term goal by Democrats is socialism and to kill capitalism.

The latest protests and Cvirus have been eye opening. Democrat failure at local and state levels to allow violence to continue and not strongly denounce it has exacerbated the situation. Democrat governors heavy handed use of power during the pandemic makes one wonder what it will be like when they gain absolute power.

You can dismiss everything I’ve said above, but that’s how I feel.  In summary, I fear Democrat control and policies a hundred times more than I fear Trump.

I don’t think he’ll win.

If he does win, try to remember that most voters don’t care, at all, about politics. To paraphrase Chuck Klosterman, politics is like football. 40% of voters know nearly everything about it, while the other 60% pay almost no attention at all. It’s a nation of half experts, and half people who almost never care. I think the character thing dooms him this go around for many reasons. I’d also be far less surprised at a Trump re-election than I was an election, so take that with a grain of salt.

We’re all sitting in the dugout. Thinking we should pitch. How you gonna throw a shutout when all you do is bitch.

I think November is going to be a landslide...  just not sure in which direction yet.  Either way, like every past election the sun will still rise in the east and we won’t wake up dead.  Not everything is the looming calamity many have been screeching about for 3 years.

The left has galvanized the right. From the very beginning of his presidency they've been seeking ways to resist and remove him. Sometimes it was very childish. There was a crisis du jour every month, with talking heads predicting the end of his presidency.

Meanwhile the Democrats trot Biden out there as their candidate. I can't see a lot of excitement from "change" voters on the left to vote for a guy who's been in office for 40 years. Those who will vote for Biden likely would have voted for whomever had the Democratic nomination, no matter who it was.

Trump is also polling better with black Americans, despite the racism drum being beat every minute of every day. What does that mean?

I think in all, Trump has the inside track to the presidency. His supporters are unshakable; he has legislative accomplishments; people remember the economy he presided over before Covid-19. In comparison the Democrats have shrill contempt and blame.

I'd never pull the lever for an imp like Trump, but I think the OP is correct.
