Where should your city put their statues of Snowden and Assange?

Two white males? Not on your life.

Planning is an exercise of power, and in a modern state much real power is suffused with boredom. The agents of planning are usually boring; the planning process is boring; the implementation of plans is always boring. In a democracy boredom works for bureaucracies and corporations as smell works for skunk. It keeps danger away. Power does not have to be exercised behind the scenes. It can be open. The audience is asleep. The modern world is forged amidst our inattention.

Snowden did what he did but he wasn't working on behalf of an evil foreign power.

Assange became a tool of a an authoritarian regime just like this guy who wont get a statue soon.

On private property so the Patriot Act loving Americans have no say.

On public property so it's a federal crime to damage them

Remember that every argument you have with someone on MWCboard is actually the continuation of a different argument they had with someone else also on MWCboard.

Spokane should put theirs where they have a statue of John R. Monaghan, who died fighting in Samoa, or as the statue reads, "one brave man against a score of savages."

No - I'm saying this statue of a rich kid who died at war and his family thought he deserved a racist tribute:

Could be replaced with one of Snowden.  I'm not a huge fan of Assange for a statue, but if I were president I would certainly pardon them both.
