Big 10 is/was expected to release their schedule tomorrow.  Dont know how they would do any agreement with the B12 since they are going conference only.

This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

Max Olsen of The Athletic is reporting that the +1 must be a home game.

Which, for my alma mater, means a trip to Vegas is out.  Would also mean the SMU game would be moved or cancelled.  Not sure how that would fly, on the other hand the money that changes hands is essentially zero.  Plus, any game in Dallas is usually a TCU home game anyways.

Personally I hope they shut it down. It’s not worth the risks putting players and coaches in jeopardy.

Just a thought , but could you imagine the way MLB is right now, cancelling series/ games almost daily. Project that same scenario on college football on a weekly basis. It's fool's gold to think college football will able to played at an even rudimentary schedule.

TCU/SMU to be cancelled.  Sounds like TCU will go the local body bag route to fill the +1.

That would have been the 100th game/year for SMU/TCU. Apparently no bad feelings but SMU wouldn't switch the home dates on the game so it's out right now.

Precisely. Baseball players may sit in the same dugout with masks on, but football players are blocking and tackling up close and personal,  breathing on each other, and exchanging sweat and saliva. It’s the ultimate recipe for spreading the virus. The season is going to be over in the next few weeks as players begin full scale practices some of whom won’t commit to and I don’t blame them.

so if they don't play football then the players are not at risk of getting it?

Keeping all the players together seems less of a risk than having them all go their own way if they limit outside contact.  Some coaches are the only ones really at risk and anyone with other medical conditions should probably not be involved anyway.

The world turns and a virus is not going to keep people shut in for 6 months.   Accidental deaths, flu, pneumonia, violence, etc. all together kill more people yearly than Covid.  And that doesn't include suicides which has gone up.

Players and coaches should be able to make their own choice to play football or sit home.

That's disappointing.  It really is.  Pony should agree to scoot on over to Amon Carter this year and then figure out an owed double at its baseball field...I mean football stadium.

Coogs are free for TCU body bag junks to replace @ Washington State...lols.  And like ya'll, playing Rice is always a home game for Us no matter where; esp Rice Stadium like 5 miles away from Coog campus.  Yawn re Rice.

UH @ TCU could be a good one.  No real payment for Coogs to show up at Amon Carter..as long as your local 7-11s have hot dogs available (SWC Championship lore from Coog Cotton Bowl days).

You should be good with hot dogs, since most Coog High grads end up working at Circle K.

They did release their schedule.  Starting 9/3.  2 bye weeks, with 4 weeks built in to reschedule games.  Still some openings for the MWC on the Fox networks (1 on Fox, the rest on FS1) early on, but the B10 will take all the primo slots, as they'll have 7 games each week in September.
