Is this the beginning of the end of college sports?

If USC does not see this as a clear sign that they MUST get out of the PAC 12 very soon then they will be hopelessly stuck in the sewer that is the PAC and will join the remaining members in their quest for  self destruction.

I know this group has members and some influence at UCB but do they have any influence anywhere else?

Whether it's P5, G5, FCS, DII, whatever, players should get paid off their name & likeness at the very least. They make millions and damn near billions for not only their school, but the corporate sponsors and TV networks who profit off these kids backs. Cold game.

Modern day slavery. We’ll give you a place to stay and education and we’ll keep all the money you make for us.

I'd be cool with the free education, but even after you earn a degree, there's still no guaranteed you'll get hired somewhere.

And yet there are kids lining up, and spending thousands of dollars, for the shot to be college athletes.

Doesn't seem like such a bad deal.

Paying players for their "likeness".

Looks like BYU is leading the way once again on this, and found a way around using a player's "likeness" in real life.

@Del Scorcho (this might be the PAC12 loophole you all need):

Update: BYU to wear "Spirit", "Honor" or "Tradition" jerseys only ...

Ok so the PAC is out for the upcoming football season. I’d expect most or all of the other P5 to follow suit. This could be the catalyst for the change to a semi-pro league or the long awaited separation of the P5 from the NCAA. Let the strike begin and finally be done with the drama. I watch college sports 96% of the time anyway so these prima donnas won’t see any of my money anyway. NFL needs a G league anyways.

Utes football players join Pac-12 boycott if demands for racial justice, pay and COVID-19 safety are not met

At least 20 University of Utah football players, including some projected starters, tweeted Sunday morning in support of a movement by Pac-12 players to boycott games if the league does not meet a series of demands.

The list, which includes items regarding safety, compensation and racial justice, was published Sunday morning on The Players’ Tribune and is signed by “Players of the Pac-12.” It is unknown whether any Utes were involved in drafting the document, but junior linebacker Devin Lloyd, an All-Pac-12 honorable mention pick last season, tweeted his support for what has been dubbed on Twitter as the #WeAreUnited movement.

Much-hyped four-star freshman Clark Phillips III, a likely starter at cornerback, All-Pac-12 offensive lineman Nick Ford, and South Carolina graduate transfer quarterback Jake Bentley were among the 20 who tweeted before noon Sunday.
