Holes to Fill 2020

Recommended Posts

Before some of ya'll get too excited about a new porno forum on Mug's board, it's about football.  Fortunately, Mug is very liberal in thought across the board and does a great job of keeping it all real.

Anywho, topic central pls.  So much changes every week regarding all of our football skeds.  I'm a blind purist.  I think one way or another NCAA FBS will actually Go in various forms.  Unfortunately, many of us have sked holes to fill if we do 12 conventional games.  Let's yammer and discuss pls per squad.  I'll kick it off with my squad and opine.

Washington State canceled.  AAC regular will hold.  As will Rice, North Texas, and BYU.

September 12 open.  Possible replacements for that include:  Hawai'i, Ball State, and Liberty.  My pick is now hosting up Liberty and paying them like $150k just to show up.

Liberty has offensive guru as a coach. They were actually a solid team last year. Horrid defense but a pretty good offense. I wouldn’t mind adding them back in the schedule this year. We may not have a choice.

CSU lost two PAC12 games.  We apparently do not anticipate replacing them.  The AD has said there will be no negative financial impact from losing them.  Our season will now open Sept. 19.  I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not.

With a new dude as your coach it will probably benefit you guys to get some extra practices in

I don't think we'll get that.  The pre-season practice schedule is governed by a formula based on first day of classes and first game.  You'd have to look it up and explain it to me, it's pretty ridiculous.  Anyway, I don't believe we can't start organized practices at the same time as everybody else and just pick up some extra training.

Now, if Fort Lewis were to cancel on UNC, and we could move that game up two weeks.....

I haven’t looked at your schedule but you guys play fort Lewis?

No, UNC does. Just saying I’d love to move UNC to the opener and get a two week bye.

Losing two games in a season and starting late? How could that be considered good?

Late starts seem to be all the rage with Covid.

Here is my guess for the 5 based on the small bit of information we know. Holmoe has had confirmed talks with the below except past the NM st. I have no knowledge of AAC/MWC talks.

Alabama

Texas AM

2nd Texas school?

Liberty

UCONN

NM state/ AAC/MWC/Idaho St/ don’t pick up a 12th game.

I would love ND but I haven’t heard anything about them either

Tom wouldn’t confirm anything. But he did says things have been link out form the other party.

Oklahoma st is the other potential team. This obviously things can change rapidly.

Notre Dame might be coming to Provo. Also it’s sounds like games are close to be being done  but teams are in a holding pattern right now.

Cool stuff.  I just checked Colorado State's sked.  Oregon State on 9/12 canceled.  I wouldn't mind a homey/homey at all with CSU.  We go to ya'll this year.  Ya'll come to Houston in 2025, which is CSU's first year free re OOC.  IF that were to occur in 2025 we host all four OOCs...Texas Tech, Colorado, Colorado State, UTSA.  I really hope ADs are adapting well and thinking about things.

Props to BYU for scrambling well and trying to land another Texas squad this year.  I would thoroughly enjoy Aggy v. BYU.  Not so much Texas v. BYU.

Colorado State Future

UH Future

We both do Vanderbilt, Texas Tech, and Colorado upcoming.  And Boise.  This could be a hoot and more westward-tilting fun.  UH/Colorado State homey/homey.  I can dig it tremendously.  ADs...get on the horn and set things up.
