I really hope you are right including being put in the west.

I’m Skeptical because it makes to much sense

With the Cvirus, nothing makes sense. All decisions being made are reactionary. They will say conference only games this week and cancel all games next week. You can’t depend on anything.

Very true at this point many things are possible.

The Masters 5k road race All American.

We aren't including BYU.

We will play 8-11 games spread out over 14 or 15 weeks so we can make on the fly adjustments. And the season my be delayed a month or so. That is if the season is actually played.

Basketball will be a 20 game season and there shouldn't be any delays there.

College sports is worth too much money not to be played and if the P5 conference kickoff than the G5 will almost have to risk it.

Something tells me if Trump loses the election there will be a miracle cure found 10 minutes after Biden fumbles through his victory speech and forgets what he's at.

Sounds like conference only for hoops, with maybe the A10 challenge as a sole ooc game.

For hoops I'm just gonna assume all of the conferences are gonna play conference games only like the B1G. Which makes me mad because this is the best MWC in a long time

Yep. I really don't see a scenario where the MW could possible get more than 2 teams in (ie one team goes 18-2 or better but then loses in the MWT) with conference only play and the more likely scenario is only one team.  Cause even if we have 3-4 tourney caliber teams the media can just say "you didn't beat anyone" and pick a 9-11 Big 10/ACC/Big-12 team over a 16-4 MW team.

And it is going to be a similar thing for the access bowl. It is going to be Boise or bust. Cause even if say SDSU goes 9-0 the media will just pick the 9-0 or 8-1 AAC team based off of reputation.

My larger fear is this is jumping off point and the Big-5 conferences just permanently switch to more conference games. Ie in basketball 20 conferences games becomes the norm, in football 10 becomes the norm. Then for football  OOC would equal 1.) home body bag game (either fcs or a little 5 school), 2.) One home and home series or neutral site versus a fellow big-5 school. So far less opportunities to play the Big-5 and almost a guarantee you would not get ANY home games vs the Big-5.

20 games will be a problem as the MW said that isn't starting for another two years.  Going to it now only pisses off SDSU, UNLV even further.

Edit: forgot Boise voted in favor of round robin.

Boise voted in favor of the 20 game schedule.. The 4 dissenting votes were SDSU, UNLV, Nevada and AFA.

I get SDSU/Nevada (recent success/at large hopes) and UNLV (able to sch a better OOC than most MW teams plus they hope to get back into at large connection). Why Air Force? Seems like they would want to have 2 less OOC games to schedule.

Looks like BYU is temporarily off the table. They don’t want to give up homes games against Missouri and Houston. But they may be forced to reconsider if the MWC decides to go with their tentative plan. BYU already has 5 games canceled and risk another 3 if the MWC goes ahead with just a conference schedule.

They are selfishly looking at just a 6 games home schedule with a possibility of playing Utah as a road game. They currently have NIU, North Alabama, Utah St, San Diego St and Missouri as home games and is looking for one more providing the MWC don’t screw them and go to an all conference schedule.

Just letting you guys know that Hawaii is in favor of just playing out whatever is left of the schedule and was kinda glad the Arizona game was canceled. Looking at other “options” to replace UCLA at home. But losing a big payday with the Oregon cancellation which is going to hurt their bottom line.

How exactly would the MW going to a conference schedule due to the virus be a case of "screwing" Byu..?

That would force them to cancel their season with only 4 games to play.

We're not. And the MWC is playing conference only in football so it doesn't matter. BYU is stuck playing Indy teams and local FCS schools.

Has the MWC said what they are doing and not doing?  Or is it along the lines of we are monitoring the situation type updates.

That would be bad for BYU but I don't see how the MW is responsible for BYU in any way.

You could say the MWC has BYU by the balls now.

I don't see it that way at all.  The church has deep pockets.  BYU has shown it can schedule at a high level as an indy.  This is just a crazy sports year.  Based on their ability to draw,  BYU won't have a problem finding games for 2020 if a season happens.  Regardless of how many games are played, 6,8,10,  we are probably going to return to normal in 2021.

The MWC did have a chance to have BYU by the cajones.  Then Gonzaga decided to stay in WCC.  Let's see where we are all at in a month.  I still think it's way more likely we will not have fall college football with each passing day.  Virus numbers are brutal in the south.

Hey @Warbow. Did you here that it will be a ten game season with three to four bye weeks to make rescheduling more flexible?

I heard 10 game season with even number of road and home games. He didn’t get into byes if they where going to use them or not or start the season late with only 1 bye.

BYU won’t be left with too many more options in regards to scheduling. Soon the ACC, SEC and Big 12 will announce conference games only. Other G-5 conferences will then follow. Unless Southern Utah and Weber St or Snow fills in, BYU is screwed this yea.

If New Mexico doesn't drop the MANDATORY 2 WEEK QUARANTINE, for anyone coming to the state, there won’t be any football played here.  I---> I'm assuming travel for major sporting events like this will be exempted from the State's q'tine as long as they meet other q'tine like requirements (sequestering in their hotel when not at the stadium, etc...).  The Film/TV Production Industry is exempted from the EU Travel Band.

With the numbers in covid cases ticking upward again, the Governor is ordering back to phase2 requirements in this state. No eating inside restaurants, gyms and casinos will soon be closing again.

She also cancelled fall school sports (football and soccer). No PeeWee, no YAFL no junior varsity/high schools, allowed to field teams this year.

Also, she  said That even though she doesn’t have a say so for colleges playing (5 schools in NM, 2-D1, 2-D2, 1, NAIA), she would strongly urge colleges to not play as well.

But it’s that 2 week quarantine that she WILL NOT back off of. If so, i don’t see how UNM or lil sis to the south, can play home games... we’d have to play all road games.

I have no contacts and this is pure speculation but I actually do believe the 'MWC' will have football this upcoming fall.  Here is how I see it shaking out and what I think Wyoming's schedule could look like:

New Mexico State ('non-conference' scheduling agreement)
@ Colorado State
New Mexico
@Boise State
@ New Mexico State ('non-conference' scheduling agreement)
Colorado State
Boise State
@ New Mexico
('MWC Championship game')

I see it this way:
'MWC East': CSU/Wyoming/New Mexico/Boise (maybe New Mexico State)
'MWC West': Nevada/UNLV/Utah State (maybe BYU)

The academies won't be playing anyone. The military is going to run a tight ship to control coronavirus in its ranks.  It is pretty clear to me that the Cal State system is going to cancel all fall sports (no SJSU, Fresno or SDSU). My sense is Hawaii will follow suit given their location.

You have to look at this way - teams are going to have tremendous pressure from their states and university administration to completely avoid air travel and possible exposure to the many people at an airport (the stated goal of all these schools with their recent releases is to control coronavirus spread on their campuses).  Therefore, any schedule should be feasible through driving.  The reason I see Utah State sliding over to the 'West' is the BYU attachment and the closer proximity to Reno and Vegas where driving is very feasible but I could see Boise slotting over too.

Note: I am assuming that New Mexico and New Mexico State will receive some sort of state waivers for this type of plan.
