4UNLV

UNLV, Hawaii, Boise,

Seriously Hawaii and UNLV would be the best adds for the PAC, been saying this for years. Both are great destinations with great potential, plus new stadiums.

None of these except Boise would actually strengthen the conference as the title says. The Pac 12 won't add anyone unless it includes Texas.

They're already slipping in both football and basketball and adding UNLV/Hawaii would make them the worst P5 league.

You never seem to be right about anything. Again, New Mexico was ahead of you all during Big East expansion. And obviously Boise and San Diego State was.

Boise State doesn’t have PAC-12 academics.

PS - I wasn’t on here until January 2015, so how could I be wrong about predictions I never made?

The stupid Oceanic Cable needs to stop giving Hawaii the Pac12 network until they add Hawaii!

If we're talking 200 years down the future, then eventually the size of the Hawaii and Nevada (and possibly Idaho) markets will be big enough such that they would warrant membership into the Pac-12.  If their programs survive...

First of all that is a girl, but these days who the Hell knows. If she tells you she is a male sea snail she can take you to court for correcting her.

Also, I am tired of hearing about USC going Indy. They are talking to the B1G. I've been saying if for six months. They are doing it for the extra cash and better TV time slots. Indy was an option for all of a month. They are not interested in the Big 12 but are interested in bringing Texas, Texas Tech, and the Oklahoma schools to the PAC-12. But that's not happening.

Weirdly enough I had heard at one time that Boise, Hawaii, UNLV, SDSU and Houston was the five G5 teams on the radar with the 4 Big 12 schools. So she either heard something or it's a coincidence. BYU is someone they are not interested in. For the record only Hawaii was a realistic option at the time as far as MWC teams go.

You have a source feeding you information?  Just curious.

Years ago academic standing was top consideration for the PAC membership. Boise State, Hawaii, and UNLV would have received zero consideration.  Some PAC faculties were even a bit uneasy in admitting Utah and Colorado, both head and shoulders above the aforementioned schools. Today we live by the "Golden Rule" - he/she who has the gold makes the rules, so any conference rearrangement is possible if there is sufficient money to be had.

The only school out west that has made the move up from G5 to P5 since 2012 is TCU to B12.  That was 8 years ago.  The year before Utah and Colorado moved to P12.  I think if any of the huge schools like USC or Texas decide to move elsewhere, there will be panic and full survival mode,  no different than when MWC lost BYU and TCU and invited the WAC schools.  My best guess is the B12 will lose a couple top schools first as GOR gets closer.  It expires June 2025.   I don't see USC, UCLA, Washington, Stanford going anywhere.  I think the P12 holds together out west.

Hawaii and Las Vegas could bring big money to the PAC/12 network. Hawaii tourism authority and Hawaiian Airlines pays big bucks to advertise on major networks. Southwest Airlines also caters to Hawaii now also. They can transfer a lot of that to the PAC 12 network. Vegas in the same boat with their casino adds.

It’s all about the money now and what it’s members can bring to them. I imagine that they would boost their appeal with Hawaii and Vegas in it.

They need a blue field.  Ask ESPN and Fox who brings the money in the MWC.  It's not Hawaii and Vegas.

That’s is laughable from a school that can’t afford to keep their baseball program. The PAC 12 is not a one trick pony and not looking for a one trick stallion. Hawaii and Vegas brings them good basketball, baseball and volleyball programs as well.
The PAC -12 network is a year long network, not a football only network.

You don’t know what you’re talking about by putting Hawaii  in a group with these two others schools. If academics was the only thing used for entry into the PAC 12 then Hawaii would already been in it.

If we were not subsidizing the rest of the conference with the T.V, money we earn, we could have kept baseball.

Football is the only thing that matters when it comes to T.V. bucks.  Hawaii and UNLV offer little.

Hawaii was merely missing a travel partner.  They got one now.

yawn. the topic pic is Texas. Texas-Austin definitely not bolting to PAC.  No Texas squad is doing that at all.  Too land-locked and myopic with lackluster television ratings despite PACs decent payout. Decent, not wonderful. See PAC network failure.  And overall PACness regarding how they conduct bidness.  If I were PAC I would add BYU and Boise in a heartbeat to round up to 14 but they're stoopid and weird.

BYU and Boise make strong marketing sense for PAC, but it's idiot PAC.  Go figure.

Had a source. Haven't talked to them in a few months except some info about our third tier TV rights. Bit that has been scrapped for the time being.

I guess it depends on who you ask here if they are a good source. Got most stuff right. The main one was the TV deal and the numbers. Also the BSU legal battle against the MWC they were pretty spot on. BSU was real close to leaving a few months ago. They were in talks with the Big West and AAC when the MWC decided to give them the deal.

I get the sense with Covid-19, those talks may heat up again.
