Rice

@Slapdad is up!

Rice is one of those institutions that you'd think belongs in a power conference based on a few metrics, yet seem happy slumming it with everyone not in the club.

25 years ago they were in the same conference as Baylor, Texas, Texas A&M, TCU, and Texas Tech.  Kinda makes sense where they are at though, for football at least.  They have one of the smallest enrollments in FBS.  2% of their students are playing football.

In its Glory Days, Rice was the bomb re sports.  Rice Stadium built as large as it is not only hosted sold-out 1950s SWC junks, it also hosted Super Bowl 8 in 1974...and the Kennedy moon speech...

It's also the venue where Andre Ware found out he won the Heisman Trophy after we pummeled Rice 64- 0 early December 1989

Just think, Sewanee and Tulane were SEC powers, and University of Chicago was Big Ten.  They all left on their own though, I think Rice got left behind like TCU and Houston.

Post SWC breakup was nutty.  TCU navigated the waters very well, with a ton of fence jumping.  UH still working on it and evolving.  If Rice were like it was in its glory days re football, we're like 5 miles apart and would hook up for a joint bid for how PAC likes to do it...twinsies.  Everyone has a soft side for Rice; fantastic academic cred and its previous sports glory.

I am surprised they were still available, and she is downright beautiful.  I feel lucky.  :D

I thought about taking them last round, but their SOS is ranked #2 and that was before ECU, Wofford, and CCU were canceled.

But, no Clemson though.  Auto losses at LSU and at Florida with a likely loss to UGA after they shocked the Dawgs last year, otherwise who knows.
