What’s everybody grilling up for the 4th

Recommended Posts

I have two crock-pots cooking right now, one with chile verde and the other with a bottom roast. We are going to have chile verde tacos, shrimp cocktail, and shredded beef sandwiches.

Taking the day off. My brother In law is grilling today. Ribs. I Smoked a pork butt yesterday... having trouble regulating the temp on this smoker my mother in law got me, but the pulled pork was good. Just took longer than I wanted it to.

Planning is an exercise of power, and in a modern state much real power is suffused with boredom. The agents of planning are usually boring; the planning process is boring; the implementation of plans is always boring. In a democracy boredom works for bureaucracies and corporations as smell works for skunk. It keeps danger away. Power does not have to be exercised behind the scenes. It can be open. The audience is asleep. The modern world is forged amidst our inattention.

I retreated to the cheese curtain yesterday, Bratwurst,  Spotted Cows, Bent Paddles.

My son smuggled in Betty's Pies from North Shore Minnesota.  Key lime and a strawberry rhubarb.

No outdoor junks.  Oven roasted chicken stuffed with onion, rosemary, and nuances.

Southern butter beans incubated overnight with its all day cook from 8a.  We love the incredible goo of southern butter beans.  Someone mentioned something about green beans.  Negative.

It's basted chicken and butter beans day in honor of Southern cooking at its finest.  No hot dogs. No grill.  And no fireworks.

Happy 244 USA b-day.

It's just simple home cooking with my posse.

Smoked a 13 lb brisket yesterday that has more than enough leftovers to carry us through the weekend. I was nervous but it turned out pretty good!

Backyard fire right now for the kids to do hot dogs and s'mores until it's dark enough for fireworks.

Happy 4th everyone!
