UConn lands a FB TV deal with CBSSN

Memphis is a great school with a good basketball tradition. UCONN women’s and Men’s basketball  are on the different level. UCONN wasn’t going to allow the women’s team to go to a service that only had 5 million subscribers. Comparing Memphis to UCONN isn’t remotely close

I agree and that's kinda the point. Cincy, Temple, Houston, UCF, USF, etc are far more like Memphis than UConn...the Huskies never fit in culturally. They tried, we tried, ESPN tried...it just didn't work out.

moreover, they're paying their dues so as I've been saying I hope it does work out for them.

True. The AAC is a great conference and I known it’s the not popular around but they seem to be separating themselves from the MWC.

but as I said before it’s a sham. New Mexico was a eyelash away from being in the Big 12. And they deserved it and they still do. They have as much of a P5 fan base as a 1/3 of the P5 teams. I think the only way to make it fair is to make a 16 team playoff with every conference champion in.

I think with the success the UCONN has made with the transition. UNLV and New Mexico should look at their options. Join the WCC or make a new one with Those 2,  BYU, USU, Gonzaga and St Mary’s as the anchor schools. It could be like the old big East. Football and basketball schools.  Everyone keeps tier 3 rights and pull BSU and Hawaii in, and I’m sure it would pull in more than current MWC.
BYU, BSU and Hawaii bring good Football TV ratings.

I wish them well as the 17 million they're leaving the remaining members will greatly 'soften the blow' that comes with production costs. I also thank them for the 2014 NCAA championship credits that helped grow a young AAC. Good luck UConn and I believe playing 2 AAC hoops teams home-home is part of the exit agreement so I'm hoping it's Cincy/Memphis.

They help subsidize your production costs, and they clearly get more money. Win win.

The whole thing is a sham. Why does K State get 30 million more than Memphis.

BYU has struggled in independence yet we are still 2nd or 3rd in combined attendance in the west. Our football TV ratings are good. I made a spreadsheet on the 5-7 football team. ESPN and ESPN2 games for our time slot we were 2nd I believe. It’s still posted somewhere.

BYU is lucky enough to compete as an independent. Our combined income is about what a bottom P5 team makes. Unfortunately if we were P5 it would be a lot more.

BYU is 2nd in the west. I’m actually surprised we aren’t 1st.

I really wish gonzaga had moved to the MWC as that would really strengthen MWC hoops having teams like UNLV, Gonzaga, SDSU, New Mexico, Nevada, Boise State, Colorado State, etc

adding WSU now seems like a sage move by Aresco.

Only if that eyelash is the size of a redwood.

Because of the current value of the Big East deal and the presumed value of an SNY deal (which was over a million a year several yrs ago).  Not to mention the 1st year of the new AAC deal will be closer to 5 mil (the 6.94 wont be reached until year 6/7).  And the production costs the AAC is incurring.

Thats how.

RIGHT ON...don't forgot is cost them a lil' <$20mm to buy their way out of the AAC.

I honestly think Boise State would be a better football team if we were in the AAC. Our record may not show it but we would be better. The AAC as a whole outclasses the MWC in recruiting. Boise is being outrecruited by six AAC schools last I looked.

Having said that Boise State would still be one of the top three teams in that conference every year and win our division more times than not. MWC or AAC, it's all the same. We're just better than everyone else.

Oh ya...those Temple & ECU/BCC rivalries would have been intense by now.

November games in Philly & Cincy...who could ask for a better conf?

That was a ridiculous move not matter how you slice it.  We should have stuck y'all for a HUGE buy-out & a nominal buy-back in.

I like Logan and Laramie. Especially Laramie. I don't know why people insist on trying to talk shit about The U of Wyoming. Especially people who have never been remotely close to Laramie. And someone from a southern shithole like Memphis shouldn't even give an opinion. Makes you look a tad dumb.

when BSU signs a home-home with Temple/Cincy we'll do a home-home with Wyoming/ Utah State

we can compare notes

Spread out over multiple years.  The balloon payment comes right around contract time for the Big East.

some folks love Southaven/Olive Branch but it's not for me. You've got lots of shopping, the Tunica Casinos 30 mins away, sports with the G-League, and solid city services but you're still paying city AND county taxes there.

I'd much rather be in unincorporated Cordova just north of Shelby Farms...you have easy access to the park, walking trails, fishing, horseback riding, etc along with the convenience of living essentially in the city but not having to pay city taxes.

something like say this:

Olive Branch and Southaven are nice.  I have many co-workers who live there.

I've been to Laramie many times, however why do you have to have been "be remotely close to Laramie," to know a game played at +7k-feet in elevation & north of the Colorado Stateline in late-Nov has a good chance of bad weather?

¿Okay what where we taking about then w/those references to Nov & Thxgvn’g games above?

It's a million plus per year, according to the Courant.  And not streaming.

Incorrect.  The 7 figures is the cumulative total over 4 years.  Not 7 figures a year for 4 years. "believed to be a seven-figure sum over four years"

Holiday travel, shitty stadiums, violent cities, and STD's. That describes most of the AAC.

Not all of them have beaches in downtown Orlando.
