We don't know what things will look like in 2 weeks? By June/July, we will pass 100k deaths. We know when winter rolls around, we will have to deal with both the seasonal flu and the pandemic at the same time. We know from Fauci and pretty much any health expert that a vaccine won't be available in the next few months. Classes are still going to be available online. Why not let college students know now so they can plan ahead regarding campus closures in the fall. College sports will be back, they just probably won't be for fall of 2020. I mean our actions, collectively, change the projections; so we don’t know what the projections will look like in 2 weeks, let alone 3 months. I don’t see the need to have a blanket ban on large gatherings that far out when they can just as easily keep going month by month. Also I think you have your threads confused. This is the post about Oregon banning large gatherings until September, not CSU moving to online only classes in the fall and potentially cancelling fall sports. Yes, i was referring to CSU campus shutdowns. My bad. With respect to college sports in the fall, the result is the same. College football is looking less likely by the day. I am still hoping college basketball can resume in the spring of 2021. What a crazy year.

I don't think that's the case. At any rate, as I have been saying over on the OT board. Open up the economy. Don't open it up. Whatever. We're screwed regardless. There are no good answers. This is not the mindset of a healthy person. No. It's the mindset of someone who is realistic. You can open up the economy, but people aren't going to be going to movie theaters, restaurants, traveling, etc. in large enough numbers to save the economy. And the people who do go out, will only increase the chances of a severe second wave, which will do even more damage to the economy. Of course, staying closed is untenable, too. And there are civil rights implications if the shut down continues. There are no good answers, and my attitude about that has been consistent. In all this fight between how to react to the virus, and demonizing those who we disagree with, we are forgetting that the virus is the problem. Not politicians. Not people who are understandably nervous and want to stay home. And not those who want to open their businesses. And until the virus is eradicated, or at least treatable, most likely our economy is phucked. Just the reality of our situation.
