Name and Likeness MW Biggest Earners

Recommended Posts

Here's my Guess of some names that are going to be big earners after this thing goes through:

Boise State - Hank Bachmeier - likely QB1 for the next 3 years, very personable but also weird and interesting.

Fresno State - Cavinder twins - also freshman - they already have a huge following on social media.

SDSU - Terrell Gomez - like 5'-6" and will score close to 20 ppg. That's marketable.

---

Who else is going to earn big money?

Nick Starkel. Because with him, we won't be ass, my dude. Jk. The reason is because he's no stranger to the spotlight. He's a huge and vocal Justin Bieber fan, he wears a Justin Bieber shirt inside his jersey as a lucky charm, and he even got him to respond to him on Snapchat for tearing his shirt apart after we upset Arkansas. He also used Twitter to find his crush while he was at Texas A&M. Embarrasing? Maybe...

I think potential NFL Draftees like Tre Walker will also some traction because of his performance last season. He led the conference in total receiving yards for sure. I hope the momentum will continue in his senior season. He's 958 yards away from breaking the record for most total receiving yards.

True. They would have the potential.

People would have to believe the players would drive business in the community.  People in San Jose and Vegas simply do not care about the Spartans and Rebels.  It would come down to a few rich boosters caring enough to try and buy recruits for both schools.

Nah, I believe popular UNLV bball players will be making decent scratch doing ads. We will care again soon.

Yeah, that's where Boise has an advantage. It's a decent sized market, but Boise State athletics are the highest pinnacle in the entire state when it come to notoriety. That's why so many of the ex players stay in town and get into some sort of marketing profession like insurance, financial planning, real estate, pharmaceuticals rep, and the like. Shoot, Kellen Moore, LVE, Darryn Colledge, and Ian Johnson are still doing commercials locally.

Nothing sells in Boise like Boise State football, or saying you support the Broncos, or whatever.  Nothing comparable to it in the MWC.  Maybe Fresno, but people in Fresno can't spend money and the players would have to talk really slow.

Unlv was at its apex of popularity when Las Vegas was the size of the Reno area today.

They'll never come close to where they were at the height of their popularity. They were the biggest game in town and now they are drowning in white noise. It's gunna be a GK and Raider town with the Runnin' Rebels relegated to the back pages.

SJSU has a bigger market than either.

Yes, but the region is over saturated with teams.   There are two NFL, two MLB, NBA, NHL, MLS, Cal and Stanford.

SDSU’s only competition in a market of 3.4 million is the Padres.      This new rule will benefit us greatly.

That's not entirely true, Las Vegas metro had probably 700-750k in 1990 for example but that really doesn't matter for our discussion. Even 5% of today's Las Vegas at 2.3 mill people giving any crap whatsoever about UNLV bball is still more than 25% of Reno. That's big gap to make up in marketability in potential income possibilities.

After further consideration I do concede prominent Boise fb players will make nice $, at the top of what MW players are paid.

It is definitely true that times have changed and we'll never see 77-91 again, in terms of the city's attention and market share, but don't fool yourself, if the Rebels are ranked and winning nationally relevant games with implications for March, there will be plenty of support. It's still there simmering.

I'm just looking from a marketing perspective. Hurricane Hank is gunna move a lot more product in Boise than, say, Bryce Hamilton in Vegas where the majority of the town would would be thinking "who's that?"

Hurricane Hank would sell so many of these.  Everybody in Boise would gain 15 pounds and than @ZK686's argument would that Fresno has more attractive women than Boise would not be so insane.
