The Dem electorate is farther left then the party. They should move to where the voters are. I mean, if they want to win more.

They need to move left while leaving the culture war shit behind in their messaging.

I own a vehicle likely worth more than everything you own combined and just flew first class (including a ticket for a 2 1/2 year old), round trip to Las Vegas and I'm not 35 yet. When you accomplish something outside of finishing a book, let me know. When's the last time you saw a 2 year old fly first class in their own seat? Don't tell me about elite.

The "gang of four" all won their re-elections handily. Just to point out.

Plus Cori Bush, Newman in IL, Bowman and Mondaire Jones in NY. The House Dem advantage has gone down, but “the squad” has grown.

There's also the strong possibility that this election was all about COVID and really not much more. If Biden's lead holds, then the American electorate would essentially reflect my feelings on COVID as a whole. Frustrated both with the often overbearing restrictions but frustrated a bit more with the idiocy of the president and his handling of this. Ironically, the thing that probably lost Trump the presidency may have been the thing that kept him competitive.

Either that, or a +++++ing pandemic and a scientific consensus was warped in the US to reflect an already existing and bitter partisan divide.

Planning is an exercise of power, and in a modern state much real power is suffused with boredom. The agents of planning are usually boring; the planning process is boring; the implementation of plans is always boring. In a democracy boredom works for bureaucracies and corporations as smell works for skunk. It keeps danger away. Power does not have to be exercised behind the scenes. It can be open. The audience is asleep. The modern world is forged amidst our inattention.

I don't know what to do in the socialism vs right-wing populism scenario. Might just sit things out

You're going to be forced to pick a side one of these days.

I have no idea how the +++++ it can still be so low. Anyone understand what keeps 33% of voters from casting their vote?

Disabled? Homeless? Just curious.

I don't know why I'm always in the minority on this but IMO it isn't in the best interest of our country to have too many people voting. Fact is, there is a large segment of Americans who are so ignorant that if you put three of them on Jeopardy, nobody would end the show with a positive dollar amount.

The right has gone all-in on culture war shit. That stuff wasn't popular 5 years ago either.

Agreed. It’s not popular Dems, just stop it.

Like I said, right-wing culture war issues weren't popular in the recent past, either. Why shouldn't the left take away the lesson that the path forward is finding the right asshole to force your unpopular ideas on everyone else?

It's likely not gonna happen, but I'm still keeping an eye on NC. It's reported that potentially up to 26% of mail in votes never made it.

NC allows ballots that come in up to 3 days late to be counted, and it's only an 80,000 vote race right now

Sherrod Brown 2024!

Sherrod Brown is a case in point for what I've been saying.

He consistently outperforms centrist Dems by 8-10 points in a red state by being an agrarian populist who is very left. Focus on pure economics is a winner.

That could very well fully turn the tides.

Quote

[Irish] Foreign Affairs Minister Simon Coveney has responded to Donald Tump’s claim that he has won the US Presidential Election saying it’s “unwise” to to make such a declaration before all the votes are counted.

Mr Coveney said: "This election is not over and it won't be over until all of the votes have been counted.

"So I think it's it's unwise for anybody regardless of who they are, to be declaring a result."

Taoiseach Micheál Martin meanwhile, said "we shouldn't jump to conclusions" about how the election will play out.

He said it's a "fraught" and "tense" time and "the sensible thing to do is to allow the electoral process in the United States to take its course."

I've always been an independent contractor. But I may declare for free agency in the next four years depending on how things go.
