Which is the number after China locked down half of its citizens which slowed the growth (flattened the curve).

You cannot compare the number after a lockdown to what might happen without a lockdown which is the projected study's numbers.

It's as if some of these people never took a calculus class in either high school or college.

You do not need to be good at any type of math to know that there is a difference between an apple and an orange. Both are fruit grown on trees but there are big differences also.

Healthcare is not my field. But it is not hard to see the difference in the type of data and the conditions each is describing.

Agreed. What I've observed is the inability of some people to recognize or differentiate rate of change from static data points.

If you honestly think coronavirus is going to kill 400x more people in America than China you’re effing insane

Now that we are starting to lock down cities like China did it seems unlikely to me that our rate will end up super high. We are taking steps to slow the spread.

If we had not started locking down cities this week who knows what would have happened in the future.

Maybe a few cities can declare themselves coronavirus sanctuary cities with free movement to give us a comparison. :hmmm:

We'll have a fantastic case study: the United Kingdom. We'll see in a few months how crazy, needless, useless, harmful, unnecessary all this is.

If we ALL don't start taking this shit more seriously in a "few months" there will be dead bodies in the hallways of hospitals.

Actually no, the UK will not be a good control group for comparison. It would only work if the UK did nothing. Today Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are closing schools as of Friday and England may follow.

Any move made in any country and when they take that action in the timeline vs another country changes the results for comparison.

Bob, they reversed course and have begun to follow our lockdown strategy.

We’re all sitting in the dugout. Thinking we should pitch. How you gonna throw a shutout when all you do is bitch.

Okay here’s some positivity!

How about some good news?

- Doctors in India have been successful in treating Coronavirus. Combination of drugs used: Lopinavir, Retonovir, Oseltamivir along with Chlorphenamine. They are going to suggest same medicine, globally.

- Researchers of the Erasmus Medical Center claim to have found an antibody against coronavirus.

- A 103-year-old Chinese grandmother has made a full recovery from COVID-19 after being treated for 6 days in Wuhan, China.

- Apple reopens all 42 china stores,

- Cleveland Clinic developed a COVID-19 test that gives results in hours, not days.

- Good news from South Korea, where the number of new cases is declining.

- Italy is hit hard, experts say, only because they have the oldest population in Europe.

- Scientists in Israel likely to announce the development of a coronavirus vaccine.

- 3 Maryland coronavirus patients fully recovered; able to return to everyday life.

- A network of Canadian scientists are making excellent progress in Covid-19 research.

- A San Diego biotech company is developing a Covid-19 vaccine in collaboration with Duke University and National University of Singapore.

- Tulsa County's first positive COVID-19 case has recovered. This individual has had two negative tests, which is the indicator of recovery.

- All 7 patients who were getting treated for at Safdarjung hospital in New Delhi have recovered.

- Plasma from newly recovered patients from Covid -19 can treat others infected by Covid-19.

So it's not all bad news.

We shall weather this storm together 🙏🏽

I hope all you freaked out people feel the same for the next flu season and people are dying by the tens of thousands! (Well actually the flu season is still going and claiming more lives than the COVID).

We should shut down every year!!!!!

That's one of the problems.  This virus isn't going away anytime soon.  Its not like the cold or the flu.  Its hitting in South America where its still summer.  Who knows how the damn thing is going to mutate.  We are probably 18 months out for a vaccine.  keeping people away from each other as much as possible is very important.

We got a head-start on them by shitcanning the entire working group on the NSC who's job was to protect us from pandemics a whole two years ago.

And enough with the false dichotomy re: free healthcare. Canada, France, and the UK have never had to triage sick people due to a lack of hospital beds or ventilators. That's simply a lie. And the same extraordinary circumstance that is resulting in this possibility elsewhere will result in it here as well.

If we provide government healthcare like we provide military strength, we should be all over it.

China can pretty much do what it wants. The USA has to act within the constitution.

They can, and will put a foot down when necesary.  The 'ol USA does when its on foreign soil.

You a free person.  In China your are a communist free person.  China says don't do that - you don't.

China found a dangerous combination of communism and capitalism and made a hybrid of it.  They can respond fast. Much faster than the USA government.

Nobody move - nobody gets hurt. Right? They have been isolated for a couple of weeks now.

- Doctors in India have been successful in treating Coronavirus. Combination of drugs used: Lopinavir, Retonovir, Oseltamivir along with Chlorphenamine. They are going to suggest same medicine, globally.

Doctors in Iran say IBU Profen makes Coronavirus worse.  Unfortunately, the data just ain't there yet.  Eat a banana or apple or something.

- Researchers of the Erasmus Medical Center claim to have found an antibody against coronavirus.

You might get the coronavirus.  Maybe this antibody will help you.  Miss Cleo will take your call now.

(When they do find one, and I hope they do - get it to everyone).

- A 103-year-old Chinese grandmother has made a full recovery from COVID-19 after being treated for 6 days in Wuhan, China.

And so have thousands of others. Age 10+.

- Apple reopens all 42 china stores,

Bad move by apple.  Just shows how much the virus hurts everyone now.  They are willing to put people in harms way - and will be closing stores

again soon.

- Cleveland Clinic developed a COVID-19 test that gives results in hours, not days.

Heard about that. Glad they did it. The unfortunate affect of that is its also driving more hysteria by increasing the infection count.  We'll get a clearer idea of infections/death soon

- Good news from South Korea, where the number of new cases is declining.

Yeah - they declined in the USA yesterday too - then came back with hell's fury.  Reporting on this virus sucks.

- Italy is hit hard, experts say, only because they have the oldest population in Europe.

Not true. Italy is hit hard because they didn't respond. There is a ton of data out there on this.  Well that ton is also diaper poop. So take it FWIW.

- Scientists in Israel likely to announce the development of a coronavirus vaccine.

Snake Oil.

- 3 Maryland coronavirus patients fully recovered; able to return to everyday life.

Thats awesome.

- A network of Canadian scientists are making excellent progress in Covid-19 research.

That is awesome too.

- A San Diego biotech company is developing a Covid-19 vaccine in collaboration with Duke University and National University of Singapore.

Lets talk in 18 months or two years when they get it to market.

- Tulsa County's first positive COVID-19 case has recovered. This individual has had two negative tests, which is the indicator of recovery.

Alot of people do recover from the virus.  They recover decently when they do.  I've heard of a bunch of nonsense (lungs/kidneys/liver) that are ongoing. There is no data behind it though.

- All 7 patients who were getting treated for at Safdarjung hospital in New Delhi have recovered.

I'm glad they did. That is cool.

- Plasma from newly recovered patients from Covid -19 can treat others infected by Covid-19.

I hope this is the case.  There is so little data.

So it's not all bad news.

I'd like to think so. The reality is  we don't have much data. It is still a small sample size.  The supply chains and all that are up and running.  Work from at home if you can - let us get everyone a chance to recover if they get sick. It sucks.

We shall weather this storm together 🙏🏽

Yes we will. Yes we will. Its going to be a battle for months.  I hope I am wrong. If I'm not, nobody needs to run the stores.  Just go every day and buy a small amount of anything you need.  I used to buy in 2 week chunks - just because I planned that way.

Its going to get tough for a while. I bet we are back in order by summer though
