Doubt it will be a fraction of those killed by the flu this year. We'll see. One of these days health organizations won't be able to contain the spread of one of these scares. Not much any of us can do about it that, though. So live your life, I say.

Governor Newsom https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.latimes.com/california/story/2020-02-27/no-coronavirus-emergency-in-california-but-state-will-expand-testing-newsom-says%3f_amp=true A total of 33 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus in California, and five have since left the state, Newsom said. Of the confirmed cases, 24 were either evacuated from the Diamond Princess cruise ship or returned on repatriation flights from Wuhan, China — the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak. Newsom said more than 8,400 people are being monitored in 49 local jurisdictions. Quote We’re all sitting in the dugout. Thinking we should pitch. Yeah, one day a real pandemic will happen. This ain't it. This is like an exceptionally bad strain of flu as far as lethality. God bless the USA, the country spending money so the medical field can continue to innovate We owe it all to capitalism. Would be nice if Europe helped cover the costs that lead to innovation. and shit hole countries stopped eating weird shit. The real fear is going to be if policies like Bernies and Warrens ever take root. Then we will never be able to fight these diseases and viruses and something like this will be far more dangerous. Should make the November election an easy choice, if you think pandemics are something to worry about in the future.

I am Ram
Wow - infectious disease and the stock market fully explained in one thread! Reddit must be so jealous. Slightly worried about going to Costco later. People freak out bad enough when E. coli is detected in the water, this will be a total circus show. Del Scorcho
market now down almost 1200 points, worst week since 2008 first case of the virus in US where they don't have a clue how the person caught it (didn't travel, no known contact with people who have traveled)

Not just this thing Exactly. Which is why it doesn't make much sense - tempting as it is - to explain what's going on. The easiest and probably best explanation right now is: The market is going down because it's been going up sharply for a while. Doesn't really matter what the catalyst is, people are taking profits.
