I’ve been impressed with Utah’s response so far.  They already have a site set up that will house up to 1000 extra beds if needed (initially set up with 250 or so) at the Mountain America Expo Center.  We’re nowhere near needing this at this point but it’s up and ready for when/if it is.

So at my wife’s work they are having an emergency meeting and they are going to test everybody in the building. If anybody tests positive my wife is going to self-quarantine at a hotel and won’t be home for 2 weeks. Fun times.

Hope no one tests positive.  Curious as to why she would self-quarantine at a hotel?

We only have a one bedroom apartment (just moved from Nevada to Cali and had to jump on the first apartment we could get) so it’d be pretty hard, maybe impossible, to quarantine at home. A hotel is the only way we can think of right now to not put me and our daughter at risk. But if she is infected we very well already may be. Also thought they were all being tested, but she told me later that isn’t necessarily going to happen.

We’ll see in the next few days I guess.

Looks like a new high for deaths in a day today. It really spiked today. The good news is the number of positive cases will decline today. The number of those infected and deaths are really starting to ramp up now in most states. Looks like the grim reaper count prediction for this week is going to be true.

I read nitric oxide has been thought to be an effective treatment or therapeutic.  L-Arginine supplements help increase this too.  If I get it I’m going to start doubling down on my L-Arginine Plus powder... don’t have any need for Viagara like some of the old fuddy duddies on this board so it’s not readily available to me.  :P

I’d be careful with the nitric oxide supplements. It’s been effective for neonatal lung disease for sure (different mechanism of hypoxia) but there are some pro inflammatory effects of nitric oxide in addition to the smooth muscle relaxation. Unlike hydroxychloroquine, unless overdosing, the direct effects of nitric oxide can have a significant side effects on lung function. Trials are definitely indicated in this use of nitric oxide. Oral supplements probably aren’t going to help or worsen things realistically but you never know. I’m not taking the supplements that I have or losartan which also has potential benefits and theoretical downside.

Before interwebs: Coach makes ass of himself... BUT no one cares because only his immediate fan base is listening.

After interwebs: Wealthy coach, with mullet and PE degree to lean on, stands in from of the masses and makes a complete tool of himself for all to behold.

I can only imagine the glorious dirt we’d have to sift through had technology existed in the 50s-80s.

I know in our area some people are renting a trailor.  One trailor company is providing them free of charge to first responders.  Are you in South Placer?

Bear Bryant would have given drill instructors new techniques of "special instruction".  Babe Ruth and Wilt Chamberlain reports would need to come with a cigarette and a towel.

Monterey County. She has a meeting with the CDC people and health department soon, so I’m assuming they will be giving her guidance as to wether or not she should quarantine herself.

Thanks for your response, I get the logistics problem. But, I have to point out something important to me.

My wife works at a hotel. She is part of a skeleton crew, she's doing office work, front desk duties, maintenance duties and cleaning the place from top to bottom every few hours. She's exhausted and scared of someone bringing the virus in.

Hope you and yours are safe.

Her quarantining away from us ended up not being an option. Resident tested positive but their only symptom was a very mild fever going back about a week. If my wife was infected, our daughter and I already have been. Nothing we can do at this point but all self quarantine for 2 weeks.

One thing to keep in mind is we have been relatively lucky.  Attached is the Covid per 1M residents and CA is an order of Magnitude below New York.  Had Covid gotten into the CA population centers like the New York Metro things would have been ugly.

California is doing its part to help other states:

Good to see someone stand up for the American people.

California’s early measures also helped Nevada from exponential exposure given Reno-Tahoe’s proximity to the Bay Area and Vegas to So-Cal. I also credit Sisolak for making the painful decision to shut down the casinos early. The Vegas strip had the potential to be a catastrophe.
