Wow

India

What is going to happen there will be tragic. Those tight packed slums are going to go off like wild fire.

Yes we have our own problems. I just saw an article and am reflecting on what a disaster that country is looking at.

Yup. I wonder how many in India have already starved to death due to their own government?

Perspective:

Over 2,500 of those deaths occurred within the last 24 hours. and nearly half of them over the past 48.

By comparison, between 90 and 100 Americans die every day from car accidents.

Perspective:

Over the last week, COVID-19 has killed an average of 3,857 people each day, making it more deadly now than any other disease on the planet:

I' dlike to see the average age of death for each of these. Would be interesting to compare.

With the world population approaching 8 billion people and putting a strain on the earths resources, maybe Mother Nature is stepping in and doing what humans refuse to do.

Killing off a bunch of (mostly) older people will do jack shit as far as population control goes.

Heard they are deploying the 5 min  tests  in Detroit now.  Montana Gov said we are slated to get 11 - 15 machines but no timeline.

Birth rates are falling significantly across the 1st and 2nd world countries though.

Georgia's governor issued a shelter in place order earlier this week, and now today he just re-opened their beaches.

I'm confused.

You're absolutely correct.

One of my closest friends has 13 years in the CHP,  and he's told me they're writing fewer tickets in no small part due to the fact that management has told them they're not worried about the numbers right now, that they want them to focus on safety.

That being said, the best strategy for avoiding speeding tickets is to not get caught, which is much harder to do when there's less traffic in which to hide. Side note: I once made it from San Diego to Medford, OR in just under 8 hours. Including two pit stops and a photo opp.

2nd Side note: In early Jan I had an LAPD paddy wagon/van get up to the mid-90s to catch up to me and light me up, my in my wife's Prius, in the HOV lane, on the 405. That would have been either the best, or worst, speeding ticket ever written.

In Vegas the cops are all over the freeways pulling people over. It's very noticeable. I'm surprised.

Stay home and wash your hands on second thought is really stupid. If you're staying home with people and one of you has it, then all of you probably have it.

If you're out and could be contaminated then wash your hands, but to sit at home all day and wash your hands 50 times sounds insane because it is insane.

What the hell.

Sure looks that way. We've been long overdue.

Let it rain.

A missed opportunity to shore up Social Security.

It will be interesting to see how big of a baby boom we are going to have when this is all over. Due to the sheer size of our population we have seen a decline in birth rates the last several years, but I fully expect to see a sharp increase at the beginning of next year. If that happens then in 4-5 years from now we are going to see a huge teacher shortage that is worse than what we have now. I'll probably be teaching face to face and online by that time.
