Corona Virus - How bad is it going to be?

It is amusing to see how the Democratic party pushed the 08 stimulus with the GOP saying that there could be an abuse issue with little recourse for corporations who receive funds, yet now it is the exact opposite, and GOP is being too hasty and the Democrats are citing abuse issues.

Seems like attitudes change when the pressure is or isn't on you.

No doubt.

Honestly, I'm good with both sides shooting for the moon right now. Hopefully there will be enough pressure on them to give us a compromise bill that's somewhere in the middle, and both sides can be pissed off about something.

edit: that said, shit like that provision is exactly why they shouldn't have simply passed the thing last night.

150,000 if you file married joint. 1200 dollar checks , followed by another round of 1200 checks shortly thereafter. It also included bridge financing to small businesses to keep them afloat during this shitstorm.  The Democrats need to quit playing games  and help the people who need it.

I own a vehicle likely worth more than everything you own combined and just flew first class (including a ticket for a 2 1/2 year old), round trip to Las Vegas and I'm not 35 yet. When you accomplish something outside of finishing a book, let me know. When's the last time you saw a 2 year old fly first class in their own seat? Don't tell me about elite.

It used to be that this stupid shit could be ironed out without it turning into an all-out war.

I get it, never let a good crisis go to waste.  But right now...they’re just going overboard.  I mean did you see what’s in Nancy’s plan?

Oh I saw it... and it's taking things in the clear opposite direction as what the GOP has proposed. They're both being unreasonable. The Democrats are trying to fit in their provisions to "fix" the income and opportunity imbalance as they see it to appease their voters. The GOP is trying to make this as business friendly as possible in order to appease their voters and donors. When it comes down to brokering these deals, shoot for the moon, but know where your hard stops are. If your initial proposal is what your hard stops are, then if you don't budge, the other side gets to paint you as unreasonable and not caring about helping the American people. It's stupid +++++ing politics, but it's the way things go these days unfortunately.

I mean, if they have to step over a few corpses, and the carcasses of small businesses to ensure their side wins, so be it.

At some point, many Americans are going to start humming the patriotic songs like "To arms", and will only start getting louder the more games D.C. plays.  The partisanship is starting to be more government in-fighting vs the citizen than it is left vs right.

They should do this like the hostage movies. Every 30 minutes the bill is not passed a random congressman should be taken out and shot.

Dear NSA — soupslam is just being hyperbolic. No need to Hillary him.

Oh my gosh, can you imagine?  It would be great.  I would be rooting for a complete impasse.  Get rid of the whole corrupt gang.

Americans won’t put up with this for long.  The Senate has maybe 2 days to get their shit together.  People can’t pay their phucking bills because the government shut down their businesses and employers.  Grow the phuck up and govern like adults.

Screw that... put them all in a holding cell, and then dump them off in the woods to fight to the death Hunger Games style.

Let's be honest, when has this been the case in our lifetimes?  D.C. is so far removed from the American reality, that I seriously doubt The People are the first entities of interest in legislation.
