Had no idea what that is. I had to ask the robot.

It has many parallels.

I'd normally be sarcastic on this topic, but it really has infiltrated the political-cultural scene in ways that feel different than before.  Maybe it's not which leads me to my default position on social science data and conclusions -- wait and see.

Here is what I have recently learned. Covid revealed there are a lot of stupid people among us.

I have been having a conversation with a real nurse who works in a real hospital and she is trying to argue that more people have died from getting the MRNA vaccine than those who have died from COVID, and COVID is just an overblown hoax.

My gf is an ER nurse and most of her colleagues are anti-mRNA vax too, it's so bizarre. All the physicians she works with though are pro-vaccine at least.

Remember that every argument you have with someone on MWCboard is actually the continuation of a different argument they had with someone else also on MWCboard.

Is there any actual scientific analysis and findings that lead these nurses to their conclusions?  I have two friends who are ER nurses where they had numerous COVID-related deaths, and they are staunchly pro-vax, even though they are pretty "free to live your life" types.  And since I am a sounding board for their bad days, I routinely hear their frustration with people who got hospitalized or died from COVID issues and have asked them their experience on vaxxed hospitalizations, and they say the difference is pretty drastic on severities and visit trends in general.  It's where I get my anecdotals from, besides any folks I know personally who were hospitalized.

I asked my friend who is a nurse the same question and she sent me a few random you tube videos of nutjobs spouting conspiracy theories, and her telling me about the final words of her dad as he was dying from COVID that "he didn't have COVID".

If a large group of CPA's  were arguing that income taxes are unconstitutional and you don't need to pay them the AICPA would censure their asses, perhaps take away their license.

Nursing is a fine , and very respected profession. It takes a lot of hardwork and dedication t get that license. They have a lot of people who make their profession look terrible though.

Definitely not. I feel a lot of nurses arent really comfortable searching primary literature. Even my gf comes to me for anything that requires just the slightest research.  It's just nurses she works with seem to mostly come from that political spectrum which warps their views.

A lot of nurses seem to have very conservative views, where as physicians and pharmacists either change their medical views due to schooling or seem to be more liberal to begin with. I have yet to meet another pharmacist who is anti-vax, which makes me very curious about Bob's wife. I know she is pharmacist from a rural area who he has said is vaccinated. Does she agree with Bob's views, or is she pro-vax and just rolls her eyes when her husband goes off on a tirade?

Might make sense why he is so prolific on against anything COVID since day 1.  He needs to vent, and maybe can't at home.

Or, maybe she is the twitter account he never stops posting.

Heh, makes sense. I don't go searching the stuff, but he is the most vehemently anti-vax person I know (in person or on the Internet) and his wife is vaccinated.  I'm just really curious how that home dynamic works.

My dad is a physician who is vaccinated and boosted, while my mom (former nurse) is vehemently anti-vax.

edit: she's anti COVID vaccination, not vaccinations in general.

Does she consistently go online to look up more anti-vax propaganda and share it with anyone who will listen like Bob? If so, how does your dad feel about it?

I see her sharing crazy memes about it occasionally. It might be more than occasionally, but I'm very rarely on Facebook these days.

My dad just shrugs and says that "it's her decision" as it pertains to being vaccinated. I've mentioned her sharing blatant disinformation, and he says that he doesn't agree with them and has asked her to stop, but she hasn't.

My sister is a nurse and she's anti COVID vaccine as well, but she's had to get it in order to keep her job because she doesn't have any legitimate exemptions. Lo and behold, she hasn't died from or had any adverse effects from it.

One of the semi-hidden effects of the pandemic appears in significant excess cardiovascular mortalities.  This study covers the first two years w/its multiple waves and variants.

Both disruptions to health care during the pandemic's first two years and the long term effects of Covid infections and their vascular indications appear to be at hand:
