Corona Virus - How bad is it going to be?

No, I changed my mind. As I stated a year ago, the first time I caught COVID I was asymptomatic and still had about 6 months of antibodies and was recommended to boost them. Novavax didn't get FDA approval until July of this year and sometime between waiting I caught COVID for the 2nd time, and was again unaffected.

I didn't get vaccinated initially because I didn't want to participate in a mass medical trial that everyone who took the mRNA vaccination volunteered for after only 4~ months of pre-post clinical trials....few of which are paying the repercussions for whether it be myocarditis, palsy, guillain-barre syndrome, blood clots, or severe aplastic anemia (my girlfriend's 22 year old brother was diagnosed of this directly because of the vaccine and he may die if he doesn't find a donor soon and our family will be shattered)  Then my other reason was the tyrannical lockdowns and blackmail tactics the government/media/corporations used to push people to get vaccinated whether it was threatening their jobs, freedom to travel, socialize, etc... now I'm finally refusing the vaccine because after catching it twice and being unaffected twice-- I simply don't need to and neither did 99.9% of youngish adults or child in this country.

You caved to societal pressure and fear tactics. Most people did. I don't believe in "greater good" mentality behind the vaccine. How our government and media handled this entire situation was nothing short of pure evil and I hope those responsible repent for their souls otherwise they will burn in hell.

You ever get to the bottom of that gang of Antifa arsonists?

Wow. Damn dude... between T-day, my (22nd) anniversary, my own health issues, and the lack of clarity regarding our pending return to India, I guess I missed the thread altogether.

I am truly sorry to hear about the health issues, and am curious to know what the latest is, as the last post in that thread was 2 1/2 weeks ago (I know the pace of healthcare doesn't allow for much in such a short timeframe) - please update that thread with the latest if/when you are comfortable doing so.

Immunology fascinates me more than any other area of medics outside neurology. My mom has been dealing with RA for more than a decade, a friend's battle with psoriasis, cytokine storms, etc - it amazes me how there are so many pathways that result in one's body turning on itself.

I sincerely, and deeply, wish you and yours a blessed Christmas and holiday season, and a full and expedient return to good health.

Well then, since we're laying down anecdotal shit I'll play.

We have two close friends who lost close family members to the initial wave. The Delta variant put three of my wife's family members in the hospital within a week, two of whom required oxygen. And another friend of mine - admittedly a "superconductor" - knows no fewer than 27 people who died from it. And yet among a considerably large circle of friends and family, not one person - not one - experienced side effects from the vaccine beyond mild flu-like symptoms.

And fwiw myocarditis incidence rates are significantly higher among unvaccinated who contracted COVID than they are from those who got the vaccine across all demographics.

I know one person who had some really nasty side effects from the vax. I've got no reason to think he made it all up. He's a good dude and was extremely liberal was pro vax and did all the stuff he was asked to during the Covid first wave.

That being said I know about a dozen people directly who died in the initial wave including a friend from high school who was a machine. Guy was a gym nut and was constantly refusing to take any precautions. Left behind 2 teenage daughters and a wife. Found out later he had heart issues from all the crap he was putting in his body to be "buff"

A woman I used to work with, couldn't have been much older than me refused to get the vaccine, her daughter who was still living with her brought it home and killed her. She flaunted how the "government had no control over her body" but for some reason was ok with the govt handling women's health care issues. Posted she caught Covid but it was just a cold.... that was her last FB post.

My wife was prescribed Paxlovid last night via telehealth. I went and picked it up for her this morning. Hopefully it'll get her feeling back to normal. The kids are pretty much back to normal, and their school is just letting them do distance learning tomorrow and Friday, which then leads straight into Christmas break.

I'm feeling largely free of COVID symptoms other than a nagging cough and general lethargy. I was given Lagevrio as my anti-viral, as there's something in the way that Paxlovid gets handled that the doctor didn't like for my other health concerns. I'm about to take my fourth (out of ten) dose of it in just a few minutes.

Well,

What did we learn from all of this?

Somewhere in this 1,100 pages I posted that for some people the pandemic would never end. Whether it's the Bobs of the world, or those relatively healthy people who still refuse to return to a more normal existence, that seems to be true.
