Florida setting new pandemic case records.  Spike is higher than it has ever been.  Way to go Desantis.  Hospitals are cancelling non-emergency surgeries all over again.  The non-vaccinated screwing everyone else around

"The Florida Hospital Association said Friday that statewide COVID-19 hospitalizations are nearing last year’s peak, and one of the state’s largest health care systems, AdventHealth’s Central Florida Division, this week advised it would no longer be conducting nonemergency surgeries in order to free up resources for COVID-19 patients."

Myself and thousands of others who live and work here...would be absolutely giddy about shutting doors the for a few weeks. We've been beat to death with assholes who've got a chance to leave their homes for a vacation and are taking their frustrations out on us.

+++++ 'em for awhile. Get the shot adjust your attitude and then come back....maybe.

loose talk in Hawaii again about quarantine when you fly in or show your vaccine card.  Cut the numbers down and stop the locals from flying to Vegas and bringing covid back with them.

That's interesting.

Edit: I took a minute to process your post before responding.

I think that's not the case here. I personally ( not heresay) know of two restaurants,  a veterinary clinic and seafood supply company that have closed temporarily in the last TWO days because of Covid.

The employees of all these places have been working 6 days a week , 10-12 hours per day. No time for them to go somewhere and bring it back.

The states bordering us are the least vaccinated in the country. That's the only thing I can pin this on.....need to minimize stuff here in Florida like we did before.....the covid numbers bear that out. We didn't have near the infection rates when we slowed our roll.

I will convince him.

@Bob. Bob my man. Bobby. What’s happening? Anytime you want to talk about the vaccine, I’m here for it. I’ll never be for the gubmint mandating it. I’ll never be for vaccine passports or punitive measures against free Americans for making their own choice. I won’t be a pain in the ass to any store that requires a mask, but that part of my life is over unless something drastically changes. I’m done with it. You’re right, the CDC and the public health officials have lied and botched this beyond repair. I don’t trust them either because they’re just making it up. I’m on your side on all of that. You can trust me Bobby. In this one thread, Lawlor doesn’t troll and I don’t say things I don’t think are true. The vaccines are safe and they work. I have the numbers. And there could be no bigger win for our side than to get you vaccinated. Then we can stand up to those lying, prima Donna, micromanaging technocrats using this crisis to make everyone’s life’s worse; because we will have done everything possible. +++++ their mask mandates. +++++ their closure mandates they want to bring back. The unions, which I normally hate, are against them with us so they aren’t going to be able to demand vaccines from on high without screwing themselves politically. Get the stick, we win. It’s that simple.

Correct me if Im wrong, but it’s my understanding Bob has had the virus and therefore has some degree of immunity, so why continue to browbeat him?

Yesterday I tried convincing my daughter and husband to get vaccinated. She worries about the possible long term effect. I told her nothing is risk free, but the potential of a serious illness or death from Covid is far greater than the vaccination. She said her and her husband will get the vaccination but I’ll believe it when I see it.

The Spanish flu literally became the flu, though. It mutated into a less deadly variant that could multiply and spread without killing its hosts quickly. That seems like what we’re seeing, among the vaccinated at least.

It what viruses tend to do in the long term. There’s no real evolutionary advantage in killing off your host. I read an article once about how well the herpes virus causing chicken pox has adapted to the human organism. Infecting children, residing benignly in our nervous system, then emerging as shingles. We get sick, but almost always survive. It was brought home to me when my daughter caught chickenpox from my grandmother’s shingles outbreak. The article put forth the idea that it had likely been with us for many, many millennia.

I commend you for trying. I’ve given up with my kids.

Well, he’s taken the mantle on the board for the anti-vax stance.  And I do have some real sympathy for his objections, because most of them aren’t really about the danger or the efficacy of vaccines. He’ll throw that stuff in once in a while, but what Bob really doesn’t like is all of the know it all idiots, that have repeatedly shredded their credibility this past year plus, ordering people around and dictating how life must be lived. I have real sympathy for that. So I asked him months ago, please, I need you on the team. And he said no. I’m asking again, he’s probably gonna say no. I’ll ask again in a month, and he might say no again. But asking is different than ordering. That is where I’ll wear him down.

There is a lot of evidence that having had the virus does provide a good deal of protection for some time. The evidence that the vaccines provide more protection for longer is better documented. And if you look at the numbers from the U.K. who have been doing antibody blood testing, we’re probably a lot closer to herd immunity than our testing indicates. But our politicians and bureaucrats are idiots. They’re trying to protect the unvaccinated from themselves my bothering the vaccinated. If we can bump the vaxxed percentage of the population up a little bit more, even those idiots will know that continuing that would be fruitless. So there’s some self interest involved I suppose.

Coronavirus and the vaccine and China and fauci and the media are lefty demmykrat. That's the real objection. This is a feeling thing like voting. The "reasons" you cited aren't aren't the real reasons.

A Las Vegas father went to the emergency room with what he thought was just a sunburn. It turned out that he was positive for the coronavirus.

Michael Freedy, a 39-year-old casino worker, received the diagnosis after traveling to the beach in San Diego with his fiancée and five children, aged 17 months, 6, 7, 10, and 17 years old, according to the Las Vegas Fox 5 affiliate. The illness progressed swiftly after he tried to recover at home and he was later hospitalized with pneumonia in both lungs.

“Early Tuesday morning, I would say around 3, 4 o’clock in the morning, he wakes me up panicking,” Jessica DuPreez told the television station. “He’s like, ‘I can’t breathe. I know something is wrong.’ ”

Freedy, who was unvaccinated, went on to be admitted to the intensive care unit and died on Thursday.

And the irony with this is that Trump does kind of deserve some credit for Operation Warp Speed.  It isn't sticking it to democrats to not take the vaccine.  (I am not referring to Bob or Rebel 18 or any poster on this board)

As you pointed out, there is some risk with vaccines, that is my frustration with the vax skeptic haters.  To say there is no risk, undermines the credibility of those of us who think vaccines are a public health necessity (not just talking about Covid here).  If there was no risk, we wouldn't have to sign all those waivers.  That said, the benefit far outweighs the risks in most cases.  I don't have a problem with school attendance requiring vaccines, although I think it is pretty hard to do with Covid right not given that it is only emergency approved, and Covid doesn't normally impact young people strongly, yet the side effects of the vaccine are likely to be worse.  I don't have a problem with Biden's federal worker mandate to either vaccinate or face testing  and other restrictions, and I don't have an issue with private employers doing the same thing.

I don't  even have trouble with restrictions on large events, even of the vaccinated.  As the Cape Cod thing shows, it can still be transmitted.  So is the Boss and co doing a big Central Park concert the greatest idea in the world right now?  Probably not.  What makes no sense at all to me, is mandating masks of vaccinated people in low risk settings, meanwhile NYC is putting together a mega concert for central park in August.  That's nuts.  Wearing masks at a convalescent home, makes sense to me, and there are other situations where it makes sense.

I have other thoughts on it, but I'm starting to wander, so I'll stop here.

In the beginning the Universe was created.
This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.
