South Dakota says they got this. If rural SD didn't even get overwhelmed, I doubt other places are going to.

Must be why several patients from Wyoming were told no you cannot come to a South Dakota Hospital and why South Dakota was trying to send patients to Casper Wyoming since they were overwhelmed

Why buy Pfizer stock with its storage temperature requirements? Seems like Moderna is going to provide the most vaccines.

Because the 200 million doses on order only get us to less than one third of the population. Unless we can figure out a way to get Pfizer to use their facilities to manufacture Moderna’s vaccine, we’re gonna need all the help we can get. The low temperature storage causes a logistical problem, but it’s not insurmountable.

We’re all sitting in the dugout. Thinking we should pitch. How you gonna throw a shutout when all you do is bitch.

Let's see if the "listen to the experts" folks listen to the experts.

Most people here have been saying send the kids back to school for months. Especially primary school kids. They arent at risk from the virus, arent really vectors, obey rules with masking, and don't receive an education online. They can't stay home alone and need constant supervision which doesn't work well with working parents. This hurts those with low socioeconomic standing the most.

It was good policy to shut it down at first. We knew by June that Schools should be open. What is happening now is a travesty.

Shocker...  if only someone from a state where schools have been open since August was accurately informing folks that schools have not been a primary source of spread in said state.

That CDC article lags others. There has been consensus that schools by themselves aren’t major spreaders. And, for all kinds of good reasons, schools need to be as open as possible.  Modified and hybrid schedules for secondary schools seem, at least anecdotally, to be helpful.

However, Utah is at an est. 4.6% currently infected*, with Utah County ostensibly in line, while the Alpine School Dist. was reporting an implausible rate of 0.3% — 1/15th of the state’s rate.  Even if zero students were infected, which is not the case, the adult staff would have nearly double the cases reported by the district if in line w/the state.

You really should take it up with the Utah Health Department.  But let me point out the flaws in your incredibly inane logic.  First, lower age groups do not have a case rate anywhere near the general populace.  In addition to that, the precautions taken in the schools are above and beyond what you’ll find in the general populace.  The only person here shocked that the rates are lower is you.  There aren’t that many active cases in the schools here in Utah.  The data supports that.  It’s not a significant contributor to spread here.  But like I said...  take it up with the health department who has been telling us for months that schools aren’t main drivers of disease spread - that’s reserved for the workplace, the home, and social gatherings.  I’m sure they’d appreciate hearing all about how you have a better pulse on the situation in Utah from your potato oasis in Idaho.

In a country of 330M, that is statistically a blip, unless of course you are one of the 300,000.

Why did people make such a big deal about 9/11?  Only 3000 died.  No big deal in a country of 300 million+
