It's really not surprising. Reagan won 2 terms after all. So did GWB for that matter.

Reagan found ways to work with the other side unlike Trump. Reagan had his faults but the man was a leader. It also didn’t hurt that he could form coherent sentences.

Seems to be right in the middle. But my point was France, Italy, and Spain have been hit extremely hard. I’m not trying to make this into a political statement about how good or bad the US is.

given the last couple elections I'd argue that it probably did hurt

Remember that every argument you have with someone on MWCboard is actually the continuation of a different argument they had with someone else also on MWCboard.

Reagan and Obama were the best speakers of all the Presidents during my lifetime. I was born in 1965 so my memory of LBJ is little to none, so Im comparing them from Nixon to Trump. Reagan and Obama blow the others out of the water.

I liked the first Bush.   He was calm, decisive and thoughtful.   His rhetoric wasn't soaring but his calmness and basic honesty would have been good in times like this one.  I think he was a much better leader than for which he is given credit.

That’s a great take, and I agree.

I think a far more interesting chart would be hospitalizations or deaths per capita.  Just charting cases does not tell you a whole lot, given no country really has a handle on how many folks have actually caught the thing.  *edit*Just saw the numerator changed.

Most coronavirus patients who end up on ventilators go on to die, according to several small studies from the U.S., China and Europe.

And many of the patients who continue to live can't be taken off the mechanical breathing machines.

"It's very concerning to see how many patients who require ventilation do not make it out of the hospital," says Dr. Tiffany Osborn, a critical care specialist at Washington University in St. Louis who has been caring for coronavirus patients at Barnes-Jewish Hospital.

...

The largest study so far to look at mortality among coronavirus patients on ventilators was done by the Intensive Care National Audit & Research Centre in London. It found that among 98 ventilated patients in the U.K., just 33 were discharged alive.

It also has a lot to do with culture. Americans are an independent people, many of whom don’t want to take orders from government. We are also not communist where the government can take total control and force its will. We’ve been hit really hard in the population center of New York, but take that out of the equation and our death rate would be one of the lowest in the world.

Personally as a people I think we’ve handled this well.

I heard someone in a press conference last night talk about how countries are counting deaths.  In the U.S., she said anyone who dies and has COVID-19 is counted as a COVID-19 death.  Her opinion is that not all countries are as liberal in how they count.  Someone who has heart disease and COVID-19 and has a heart attack, might be counted as a heart disease death and not COVID-19.  Really hard to know how that would impact things, but this pops up in other categories when comparing U.S. deaths, by cause, to other countries.

I read nitric oxide has been thought to be an effective treatment or therapeutic.  L-Arginine supplements help increase this too.  If I get it I’m going to start doubling down on my L-Arginine Plus powder... don’t have any need for Viagara like some of the old fuddy duddies on this board so it’s not readily available to me.  :P

I used to take that stuff all the time back in the day. It has a fun side-effect that the ladies seem to love. (At least the cool ones do.)

Slick Willy was actually, well... a pretty slick word smith.

And he had that down home drawl.

I hear frontline healthcare workers are about to get taken advantage of on wages.

How are they being taken advantage of.  Employer doesn't need them and the revenue stream that pays them has dried up.  Nobody should be guaranteed a job.

Do you want your family administered drugs by a Nurse who has been working 24 hours straight with no break because they are overrun?

Is that the primary option? No, but maybe that's the best option. It is a conversation that needs to be had. What nurse to patient ratio and nursing rotation schedule can the hospital manage to best deploy its resources, especially if the health care workers begin to get sick. You don't go to war with what you want, you go to war with what you have.

I can’t stand to listen to that moron. I tried to make it through a part of his presser the other day and I just couldn’t take it.

Just tune into the Q&A portion, Trump going at it with reporters is highly entertaining and the closest thing to sports we have right now...

Reporter: I want to ask you a question on oil.

Trump: What’s the cost of oil right now?

Reporter: (smirks) I don’t know but I’ll find out.

Trump: You don’t know the cost of oil, you don’t get to ask a question.

Depends on the hospital and quite frankly are the for profit or not.   The hospital my daughter works at is pulling in per dium personnel and they don't have a limit on hours at the moment to get past the surge.   For profit hospitals have had some critical shortages of personnel that affect care.

Man I learn most of my political knowledge from reading this board, but I still don’t understand why Reagan has such a good reputation. He did some heinous shit that directly affects our lives today.
