Exactly.  I keep checking to see if I need to hoard my budlights, but I see no evidence of shortages there.

I miss being able to drink beer.

Question for all of the 2A members on here, how crowded were your gun shops the last few days? The gun shop by my house had a line of people wrapped around the building buying guns and ammo. My cousin's gun shop on the east side of town is completely empty, all of the guns in stock were sold along with all the ammo. They had the biggest 3 day profit period in the history of their business.

This is a serious question... what is the word on liquor/beer/wine supplies and how long we're expected to go before we see shortages there at least un cali where we're going to be under 24-hour curfews if deemed non-essential contributors? Are they considered food production? If I go full prepper with my beer supply, the missus will give me the stinkeye. But it may be worth it at some point.

Liquor stores and smoke shops are still open in Henderson. Weird.

I own a vehicle likely worth more than everything you own combined and just flew first class (including a ticket for a 2 1/2 year old), round trip to Las Vegas and I'm not 35 yet. When you accomplish something outside of finishing a book, let me know. When's the last time you saw a 2 year old fly first class in their own seat? Don't tell me about elite.

The gym I go to doubles as a gun store.  The owner said they were busier than they’ve ever been the last month.

From what I’ve heard so far here in Northern  Nevada, guns are no problem, but ammo is going fast.

Clandestine flea markets, concerts, church services, parties, other kinds of events, etc.  Organized online in defiance of shelter in place orders.

Those things will happen here in cali if this lasts more than a few weeks. And if/when the cops start cracking skulls, you're gonna see some 1960s level political violence.

You think that will happen if the virus continues to spread exponentially?

I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before stories like that become more prevalent in our community here. This time it hit home for me for the first time in anything than an academic manner. This is someone that I actually know, not an abstract.

A close friend who returned from a trip to Germany at the end of Feb has been self-quarantining since developing symptoms a week ago last Tuesday. He had some trouble breathing for a couple days but the cough remains. He's healthy enough to ride it out in relative isolation until he can get tested.

Another good friend who's an LEO said their agency got a tach alert meaning to prepare to go to 12-hour/7-day shifts. He refused to come over due to concerns over exposure despite my offer of scotch and social distancing guarantee (we can sit outside under the sun and maintain a good ten feet between us and still have a cigar).

Yet another dropped off a couple things he picked up for us while at Costco at our front door and texted me once he bounced so as to avoid contact.

The people I know in the know are taking this seriously. But I still see too many people being too cavalier about it.

I'm going to keep going out to my local stores to buy and food places to buy things when I want them.  And I'm not going to feel guilty for it, because I'm putting money in people's pockets who need it.

I'm still trying to figure out what this order means regarding construction.  It's been hazy so far.  Some projects stopped, some still going.  Some customers closed, others with reduced hours and services.  And that was before Newsoms deal tonight.

I’m fortunate enough to work in healthcare, though the specialized kind, and my employment is pretty secure for now.

My better half works for a business that’s in a gray area of essential/non-essential. She has a past in government, and found a way to make that business be compliant so they could avoid layoffs.

I know that this virus is likely to take us to the brink of healthcare overload, but as long as I can manage it, I’m also going to do my best to support all the small business I can. I want them to still be there when we come out the other side.

Just when you do it, try to do the following:

1. Avoid peak hours. The probability of exposure is dependent on the number of encounters you have, which itself is a function of the sheer number of people around you

2. Respect social distancing. Keep 6' between yourself and someone else, and don't be embarrassed to request the same of others.

3. Every 4-6 days, the probability of exposure doubles. While supply chains will largely sort themselves out over the next few weeks, this will intersect the day-to-day increase in infection rate and rising number of fatalities, and the genpop is going to react accordingly. I would humbly suggest doing a lion's share of your shopping over the next 2-3 weeks and plan on riding out the peak of the wave in (relative) isolation.

4. Get a mask. I was speaking with an infectious disease specialist today who told me some of their lab (which is working on a vaccine) findings. I do not want to repeat possibly bad information until I see it published, but it led me to believe that even surgical masks can offer at east some protection from airborne infection. The mask protects both you and others; remember - you could be one of the 18% or so who are asymptomatic but could still be shedding the virus.

The governor said their AI/supercomputer modeling is predicting 56% infection rate statewide. I think he "misspoke" when he gave the numbers he did for the projected overcapacity in hospitals. If just 14% require hospitalization (as per expected values), that would overwhelm capacity statewide by over 3 million patients. And if just 3% of symptomatic patients require intensive care, there would be hundreds of thousands - not 19K - of Californians in need of intensive care without any room to accomodate them.

I am lucky.  as a Teacher I am getting paid and teaching my students online.  had almost 75% log in today for their first set of assignments.  I buy from local business, bread shops, pet stores, etc.  Big stores are giving employees pay for a couple of weeks but the little guys getting hammered.
