The best MWC possible

4. Boise st moves all it’s oly sports to the Big Sky. Why keep all the other ponies when they only have one horse that does tricks.

5. Replace Boise St’s oly with Hawaii’s oly sports. Immediate upgrade for the MWC in Baseball, basketball, volleyball and softball.

Hawaii Basketball - lost back to back vs the 7th and 8th place teams in their conference, laid an egg at home on a national broadcast the following game.

Baseball - last place finish in 2019.

Softball - tied for last in 2018.

Yup, a real upgrade all right.

Yup, a real upgrade all right.

Hawaii basketball—7 time conference champion, 5 NCAA tourney appearances, 2016 NCAA 2nd round

Hawaii baseball—14 time NCAA regional participant—college World Series participant

Hawaii softball—-6 time conference champion, 10 time NCAA tourney appearances, college World Series participant

Hawaii volleyball—I don’t have to go into this do I.

I know now how much you don’t want us to leave you but the Big West is brining us down, we gotta go, the BW is killing our programs.

Two sports matter. Football and men’s hoops. Boise is a benefit to the mw in both.

A few things that make sense and would really strengthen this great conference of ours.

1-  San Jose drops football and moves its olys to the big west.  Having Joser in this league takes away an at large team every year because of the sos hit everyone takes just playing them.

2-  New Mexico drops football and we let them keep olys here. New mex is so strapped for cash and their football program loses a ton of money.  They could put more money into hoops and get back to being a force in the MW

3-  Unlv drops football and olys stay. Let’s get real they are like the 4th worse football program in college football history. They no longer have a stadium and zero fan support.  I know they only have 1 mw title in hoops, that is embarrassing.  Time to focus on a sport that they have been good at in the past.

This would leave us with a perfect 9 team football league. Play a round robin schedule and championship game.  Nobody would have to take the annual sos hits anymore.

This is really what would be best for Unlv, New Mexico, San Jose and the MW.

This is the main reason I agree with you:

Don't think for one second that there's not still a pretty heavy "f-ck Boise State" attitude and mentality among a lot of MWC fans. As far as I'm concerned, Boise State should be renamed byu* northwest.

Who cares. Not everyone reacts like emotional teenagers.

You know how we really make the conference better? By splitting up the bonus money that way we are all on even footing and five years from now we can see where each program stands. I guarantee posters from that glorified community college/truck driving school won't be bringing this up is then.

Good article, and I mostly agree.  I don't really see AFA leaving the MWC.

Only thing I disagree with is that AFA would incur huge travel expenses by joining the AAC.  Probably not.

They'd only be joining for football and would only need to travel to 4 away games per year (assuming an 8 game conference schedule).  What AFA did for the remainder of their OOC games would be up to them.

And if they put the remainder of their sports in the Summit League, they'd probable have less, or similar, travel than they currently do in the MWC.

Because not everyone is an entitled, new money, deluded, self-important, wannabe Ohio State/ Alabama asshat fanboy of a team that still needs an FCS level colored field to make itself feel important....

@BSUTOP25 @halfmanhalfbronco @boisewitha-s

That's a huge compliment.  I always felt like Boise and BYU have a lot in common.

Anyone who cares about the truth can see the arrogance underpinning your suggestion. As for "emotional teenagers", if there's an emo FBS school with too much makeup and an underfed attention addiction, it's the one with blue turf.

But I'll play ball and go along with the suggestion if Boise State drops academics.

Leaving a 1 bid hoops league, for a 1 bid hoops league.  Leaving a multibid volleyball and baseball league, for a one bid volleyball league where a 29-1 CSU team doesn't even host in the NCAAs.

Suit yourself.  :coffeecomputer:

Boise State earned everything they got. And because Boise State has the recognition they earned, it boosted the MWC. Don't think for a second that BSU wasn't responsible for most of this TV deal. ESPN & FOX didn't even want some of the conference. Some of you (Not Wyoming to be fair to you.) are only here because of timing.

You have my word, in six years, when the MWC signs their new contract, this conference will be down to 9 or 10 teams.

And everything they're going to get. To be continued...

And the Lobos won't win one with Gonzales and Rocky despite the fact each is a damn good coach.

How many FBS football players come out of that state every year? Ten tops? And most of them leave to play college ball elsewhere. Then there's the fact NM has like the eighth lowest per capita income of the 50 states and therefore no potential to put a big influx of money into the program. I've previously said exactly what the OP does about UNM. Let 'em stay in the MWC but ask them to drop football and use the savings to improve their basketball program to one which can not simply get to the NCAAs once in a while but win some games when they get there.

As to SJSU, even the few Spartans who post here no longer bother to argue that their school deserves to remain in the conference.

Boise has 12 players from Idaho.  And 1 is a long snapper.  39 from California.  New Mexico has the same number of in-state players...but only 14 from Texas, NONE from West Texas.  A long untapped recruiting ground for the Lobos.

In the beginning the Universe was created.
This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

I guess they are joining a conference in Japan. And historically we are a two-three bid league.

True.  But since SJSU and USU came over the MW has been a 1 bid league more often (2016, 2017) than 3 bid (2015).  Every other year it's been  two. There's a chance of it being one bid again in 2020.

1. Rocky's a great DC but he doesn't recruit. Ever.

2. Here's the new recruiting coordinator: https://golobos.com/coaches.aspx?rc=2922&path=football

Boom goes the dynamite.

Wrong, Rocky recruited Nathan Jones RB and Syaire Riley LB out of Cali. Rocky didn't recruit when he was HC. Rocky has repeatedly said he loves recruiting.

it is, except for the fact that nobody on your roster is from El Paso.  Arlington, Pearland, Missouri City and Crosby(Houston), Ft Worth, Henderson and Huntsville (East), Joshua (FW), San Antonio and Waco.  All nowhere near West Texas.  Shoot, you should have players from EP, Lubbock and Amarillo just by accident....

Also we did scout the Lubbock area but there wasn't anyone worth signing.
