Pretty disgusting stuff. I’d like to see them punished, but not charged as adults.

The questions to to ask are; how did they get to a place where this type of attack can be undertaken and how do you get them back?

I'm pretty sure prison isn't the answer.

I don't know the answer

Yea these situations aren’t cut and dry, no matter how bad we want them to be. Do they need to be punished? Absolutely. But I don’t think charging them as adults with something that will follow them the rest of their lives is the answer.

Reminds me of a couple guys I played football with at my local Juco. They were escorted from the juvenile detention center to spring and summer practice a couple days a week because they were set to be released before the fall semester started. I’m sure if whatever they did to land them there was caught on camera people would be calling for them to be charged as adults; but they weren’t, and they played ball and went to school. One of them ended up continuing on and getting his bachelors degree and is doing pretty good in life, so people can and do take advantage of second chances and turn things around.

Of course on the other hand, the other guy is in prison now because he murdered someone two years ago, so what the hell do I know.

Put most of us in the same environment and situation growing up and who’s to say we would be any different? Pretty easy to judge from a different perspective and from afar. In any regard it’s sad to see kids become so callous of life.

I like this take a lot more then your earlier dismissive “look at these kids getting a head start on prison” take.

Attacking teachers goes on in a lot of schools across the country every day. About 5% of teachers are physically attacked every year and 10% are threatened.

One of the substitutes was caught with a 9mm in their desk because he had been threatened by some students and didn't take it lightly. Of course he lost his job and other things but the threats were never looked into. A few years later those kids got in a shootout in town and killed another student.

They should be charged as adults. I don't care if you're 16-17, you shouldn't get leniency for that alone when you're kicking some dude in the head on the ground. A teenager knows better than to monkeystomp someone on a sidewalk.

I was charged as an adult when I was 16 for selling pot.  +++++ these kids.  I have no sympathy.  Throw em Juvey until they are 18, then move them to prison for a few years.  They will be out when they are in their early 20's as opposed to mid 20's if they were a few months older.

Can't just ponder on punishment.   Easy to say I don't know what to do, but there is a victim that needs to be justified in the real world right now.  Consequences for actions is always a good starting point.

Typical druggy mentality.   This is why you were a dealer at such a young age.  Trash.

I don't have much sympathy for these kids. Do the crime, do the time. I would also add all of the medical bills and lost wages from not being able work on as restitution. Selfish idiots.

They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.

Lol, remember when it was illegal for a minority to drink from the same fountain as a white person?

Jim Crow and prohibition (cannabis or alcohol) are arbitrary laws that have no basis in fact and protect no one.

This is bull crap and an excuse. It is the bigotry of low expectations, basically you are saying that if you’re poor you will automatically be a criminal. You’re making excuses for bad behavior. Plus we don’t even know if the kids were poor so basically you’re just saying if you’re black he will do bad things. I know it is not intentional but your mindset is subconsciously racist because you do not hold black people to the same standards that you hold white people too. You don’t believe that we are all equal.
