2020 MWC Softball Thread

I fully expect Boise State will - once again - contend for the MWC title in softball this year.  They went 4-1 last weekend at the NorCal Kickoff tournament.  Their one loss was a 4-3 game that went to extra innings because Boise State rallied to tie the score at 3-3 in the 7th inning.   Boise State won their first four games 4-0, 11-6, 9-3 and 8-0, i.e., 32-9 total.   Also Boise State's # 1 pitcher, Kelsey Broadus, got the win in three of those four wins.  In those four games Broadus pitched 12.67 innings and allowed ZERO earned runs (ERA 0.00), and only 5 hits and 4 walks (in 4 games) and also had 19 strikeouts.

Hey everyone, SJSU softball is currently 7-2. Going strong as always.

We lost to LMU and CSU Fullerton, but we're on a 7 game winning streak by beating UC Riverside, Middle Tennessee State, Bradley, LIU, Seton Hall, Hawaii, and Portland State.

Next up is the 3 game series against Canisius College @ the Spartan Softball field. You can watch it live on themw.com!

I don't follow softball sadly, but I imagine that they aren't as good as us.

Alrighty! We shutout Canisius in the first game and beat them in extra innings in the second game.

I gave  UNM and USU a lot of guff last year for stinking up the RPI so bad and costing us tourney spots.

So props to the Lobos for pulling their weight and then some this season.

Broadus is a good pitcher, but she has a tendency to get wild and walk batters in droves. When that happens she usually is toast.

The comprehensive rankings are Here.  NCAA.com with drop down thingy for all the polling data.  Just like baseball and its 5 different ranking things, the ladies have their version every Monday.

Betwixt our two leagues..some smattering of attention one way or another.

UCF, Fresno, Coogs, San Jose State, Tulsa, SDSU, USF.

...however, nothing to crow about quite yet.  Under the radar stuff for now.

Coog Softball at the UNLV tourney today - Sunday.   With the 'money game' tomorrow night v UNLV.

Great win vs Texas! Got curb stomped and run ruled against Washington. Coach Garza needs to stop pitching East and Orme against ranked opponents. East bleeds hits and runs and Orme just walks everybody can't throw a strike.

SJSU had a 17-game winning streak. They set a new record of winning 14 in a row against North Dakota!

That 17-game winning streak was snapped by St. John's losing the game 3-2.

Regardless of that, we're 18-3 overall.
