Wouldn't do well for the commitee to put the big boys in harm's way.

Lunardi only misses on one or two teams at most.  There’s been years where he had zero misses.

You’re talking about picking teams that are IN the bracket, NOT how they’re seeded. Frankly is it really that impressive when there are generally about 4 or 5 teams per year that are on the bubble? The rest is gravy.

It actually is.  Without cheating, why don’t you pick the teams?

This. Predicting seeding and who plays who and where is way more difficult than picking teams that will be in the tournament. Particularly as you noted there are only a hand full of teams on the bubble every year.

At this point SDSU deserves to be seeded into the west region and not sent back East. If that happens they have a great chance of getting to at least the Sweet 16.

It seems like an odd conundrum. I mean who doesn't want a 1-seed, right? Us, apparently.

Top seeds are regionally protected for a reason, and it seems oxymoronic to assign us a 1-seed and then ship us off to Yer Mom's Ass, Egypt.

Given the reality of our conference sked, a single loss will likely drop us disproportionately in the polls, thereby eliminating any "concern" about getting a 1-seed. Conversely, should the Zags trip and we run the table, we would get the 1-seed in the West and this all becomes Gonzaga's problem.

Torvik predicts we go in as a 2-seed, and despite the #2 NET ranking and the NCAA's heavy reliance on the metric, I think if the selection committee were to meet today, we'd be in the West bracket, either as a 1-seed (in front of Gonzaga) or a 2-seed (behind them).

Bracket won't be kind to the Aztecs.  Just the way it is.  MWC teams have not proven themselves in the tourney too often.  Committee always screws MWC teams, and probably for good reason.

Well, as far as SDSU is concerned history does not back up your assertion. The past five times the Aztecs have been single digit seeds they've had solid draws. in 2011 as a 2 Seed SDSU was sent to Tucson and Anaheim. In 2014 as a 4 Seed they opened In Spokane and advanced to Anaheim once again. In those five back to back tourneys as single digit seeds (2011-2015) the Aztecs went 6-5 with two Sweet Sixteens. When deserving the Aztecs have actually been shown much respect by the selection committees.

Well I hope that is the case for the Aztecs this season.
