Rolo to Wazzu - confirmed

Reports going around that Rolo actually wanted out since last year if he was offered it somewhere. Also lack of backing by the UH AD and media after the photographer incident played into him further wanting to leave the school. These are just reports though, who knows how factual they were.

Leach also recommended to the Wazzu AD to look at Rolo as a replacement when he left to Miss St.

None other so far. I think most will wait on who will be hired.

Matthew Shipley is a kicker we signed and was planned to be the primary kicker and punter eventually. He participated in the recent UA All-Star game. Boyle (who put his name on the portal) was the backup on the current team.

AD Matlin was interviewed today on the local sports radio show.

-Had to receive exemption to speed up the process to 5 days to go through the applicant process , interviews will be after 1/21

-Will be interviewing some members of the existing staff that are interested, which have a deadline to Wazzu, will work around deadlines as long as it isn't like tomorrow/Saturday

-Wants to move as fast as possible, but also will be thorough

-Nothing negative to say regarding Rolo and his decision

-Will be looking for the right fit with Hawaii, doesn't have to have played or be from Hawaii

-Looking at characteristics and list of people the coach would hire around them. Will also look towards their offensive philosophy.

-"Considerable" amount of people interested in the job. "Interesting" candidates sincerely interested in the position. Not concerned about the lack of candidates. Wife is even receiving texts from agents regarding the job. Says the last 4 years and what Rolo did to reinvigorate the program has helped.
