Del Scorcho

sounds like its gaining momentum ...

F-ck this. 16 teams- 10 conference champions, 1 independent, 5 at-large. Play begins the weekend after CCGs and continues every weekend until a CG on NYD. Utilize 8 of the existing bowls and rotate the series through them. Other post-conference bowls can continue with non-playoff teams. It really isn't that far out. Two more games than the past four "national champions" and runners-up have played. Cap regular seasons at 12 games with one bye week.

Oh yeah, and play on Sundays...

If the G5 are awarded a guaranteed spot, then would it make sense to add a +1 below it where the 2 highest ranking G5 meet?  This would mean more money for the G5 and give more representation to G5 members/conferences.

And if we can't get a 16 team playoff, f-ck this still. 2 G5 bids (hold a G5 playoff to determine) and 1 at-large.

And still play on Sunday...

If they only give one G5 bid then have a play in for it among the highest ranked G5’s.

No, it doesn’t make sense for a G5 play in spot.  Why beat up each other only to play #1 seed the next week.
It’ll be the highest rank champ just like it is with the Access spot.

I think you are right.

They are not going to throw the G5 a bone. and do this 5 P5 Champs / 1 G5 / 2 At Large deal

What if the top ranked G5 school in a given year is ranked 21 in the polls?  The P5 would freak out that the system isn't fair.

Plus, look at the current rankings for this season, and think how mad people would be if they did the 5 P5 Champs / 1 G5 / 2 At Large deal.  It would look like this (is that fair??)

1---LSU (SEC)

2---Ohio State (B1G)

3---Clemson (ACC)

4---Oklahoma (BIG 12)

5----Georgia (At Large)

6---Oregon  (PAC12)

7---Baylor (At Large)

8---Wisconsin

9---Florida

10---Penn State

11---Utah

12---Auburn

13---Alabama

14---Michigan

15---Notre Dame

16---Iowa

17---Memphis (G5)

18---Minnesota

19---Boise State

I honestly dont think people in general would have too much of an issue.  After all, in past couple years one of the P5 conference champs hasnt cracked the Top 8.  In 2018, P12 champ Washington was #9, and in 2017 USC was #12.  And more than once a low-ranked/unranked team has been in position to muck things up with a CCG victory.

In the beginning the Universe was created.
This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

At the end of the day, the selection committee is still an opinion poll. What would really matter is how they perform on the field which this is giving them a chance to do. Admittedly, I doubt the G5 rep performs all that well in a playoff, but it's not like a ton of the current playoff games aren't one sided.

Pac-12 commish Larry Scott said he favors all Power 5 conference schools having to play 10 Power 5 opponents. He thinks that could be a negotiation point when/if expands, requiring 10 Power 5 opponents for all Power 5 schools

PAC12 gets butt hurt over playing a 9 game conference schedule, while the SEC only plays 8 game conference schedule.

PAC12 has only themselves to blame.  The California schools force their 9 game conference schedule policy.

Bet the Big 10 and Big 12 are ok with the idea as well.

A team like Boise could be ranked 6th in the polls, and would be seeded 8th.

Don't expect fairness.

Also, doesn't seem fair that the Big12 only has 10 schools, and yet they'd get an autobid, while other P5 conferences have 12 and 14 schools competing for an autobid.

The other power conferences won’t allow that.  There will either be schools getting kicked out of p5, reshuffled to other conferences, or expansion.  Big 10 already has stated issue with BigXII on that front.

My money is on UCF getting reshuffled to CUSA.

Good luck forcing the SEC.  They seem to be dominating college football and have the most fans.   Doubt they'll agree to anything.

They'll just continue to count BYU and Army as P5 games.
